Philips 60W Equivalent Soft White (2700K) A19 LED Light Bulb (2-Pack) $4.97 at Home Depot

Edit: In stores now (May 14, 2015). Availability varies -- a few stores around here are close to soldout.

Brightness: 800 Lumens
Estimated yearly energy cost: $1.02 (based on 3 hours/day, 11¢/kWh. costs depend on rates and use)
Life hours: 10000 hours (based on 3 hours/day)
Light appearance: 2700K (soft white)
Energy used: 8.5-Watt (equivalent to a 60W standard incandescent light bulb)
Color Rendering Index: 80
Dimmable: N

life is only 10,000, but this is really cheap. when these fail, LED bulbs might be $0.50 each.

Thanks OP!

Purchased 6 packs (18 bulbs) for approx under $30 shipped to my local store.
It's backordered until mid-May but I can wait for a good deal; my existing bulbs are still lighting up.... for now.

I've read that these new lightbulbs take 30 seconds to warm up. Anybody knows if this is true? This is one thing that annoys me about CFLs, they take time to get up to full brightness, I thought LEDs should be instant on?

I have all LEDs in my place. They are mainly Cree with several Philips. All are instant on.

I just wonder if all other electronics in LED lights will last the projected lifetime (20+ yrs). Nobody knows yet..

Hi All……I have been buying the bulbs that Frys has been putting in their emails. I bought the 40 watt equivalents and they were ok, but the 60 watts have been much better. I got the 40s for $3 apiece and the 60s for $3.50 or $4 a piece. You will see them if you get on the Frys emailing list. I wish I could find a cheap “can“ bulb for my kitchen. The best “can” bulb I have found is the 75 watt equivalent (at Costco) for around $15. I got one and it is very bright. I have several of these bulbs to replace in the house and was hoping Frys would have a good deal like the regular bulbs I just mentioned at Frys. But no luck there. IKEA also has a good price on LEDs.

Edit....these LEDs do not get hot. I have LEDs from IKEA and Frys and they do not get hot. I would worry about the heat issue. Most LEDs that I have seen (or own) dont get very hot. The reason I have been getting these LEDs is because they conserve energy and do not produce a lot of heat. Summer is just around the corner, and my wife cant seem to remember how to turn off the lights. I live in Houston and it gets REALLY hot, so I am getting LEDs everywhere in the house.

I looked at the reviews on the linked page, and no one mentions this particular bulb having a warm up delay. I think it's safe to assume someone would have mentioned it.

I have some 5 watt / 500 lumen TCP G25 LED bulbs purchased from Amazon for $6 each. They turn on instantly.

I have some Utilitech 5 watt / 300 lumen G16.5 LED bulbs I purchased at Home Depot for $12 each. They have a noticeable start-up time, about 0.5 seconds. It's long enough that it's visible, but not long enough to be a problem beyond the inherent irritation in having any delay. I wouldn't have purchased that brand if I had known, but it's not enough to justify replacing them.

Both were obviously considerably more expensive per bulb than these Philips bulbs.

I'm not aware of any LED bulbs that have a CFL-like warm up period where they start dim and slowly reach full brightness. That delay is why I replaced my G25 CFLs over the bathroom mirror - when I want bright light for shaving, I want it now, not when I'm finished shaving.

I have many Cree CR6 lights, and the first one I ever bought, which as $50 in 2011, has gone bad. It lights up fine, but the color is way off, being yellow, like a bug light. All my other Cr6 lights are still working fine, and most were bought later at a cheaper price. It's annoying that a bulb I spent $50 on only lasted a few years.

These are really nice bulbs. I bought 10, will be going back for another 10. They are almost just as bright as a 60 watt incandescant. I'd say they are 55W equivalent.

i picked up my 6 packs today. instant on -- no warm up time. i don't hear any buzzing. i find it interesting that the CRI = 80 is not on the box, but i'm not picky. the warranty is only 3 years. if my wife is okay with it, i will replace all my incandescent bulbs with these. i totally agree that this bulb is a game changer. i have to believe this bulb will put a lot of price pressure on all other brands.

I bought several of these and am happy with them so far.

One thing to note is that their claimed life time is half what you see for typical LED bulbs, but given the price they are still a great deal.

Looks like an awesome deal, there are 400 shown in stock in my local HD. But, what do I do with all the CFLs I already have in my house? Hmm...

I picked up a bunch of these. Pretty good although keep in mind they make a very slight buzzing noise. Not enough to bother me though.

How does the color compare to an incandescent? The wife is extremely picky about that.

I've got 1/3 filament, 1/3 CFL and 1/3 LED lighting in my main room.
The you cant tell the difference in my opinion.... Soft White is what my filaments are called, and these look the same.
