I've had a Philips 642 DVD player for about a year now and it's a great player. Occasionally, though, it displays certain XViDs with funky artifcats and weird colors.
So the solution has always been the click the setup button twice on the remote and it fixes it right up.
Well, yes and no.
It definitely makes the movies viewable, but they're not crystal clear. It gets rid of the artifacts and funky color weirdness, but the video isn't as clear as it could be -- still a tad blocky at times.
I'm using component cables and have component-out selected. Otherwise, I wouldn't get a picture. Do I need to set something else in the preferences?
Anyone else notice this?
Incidentally, I'm viewing these XViDs on a 57" HDTV, so I tend to see more degredation than on a smaller CRT TV.
