Philips Seismic Edge pci audio card

i have these two old pci audio cards

Philips Seismic Edge pci audio card
Soundlbaster live 5.1 CT4760

was wanting to put one in my HTPC thinking it may be an improvement on the onboard audio.
i'm running x64 version of winXP was wondering if there are x64 drivers for these cards.
i did find something for them but so far the philips card does not respond.

ps. please dont knock my OS.. its in there..for like 2-3 years now.. seems stable to me.. dont want to install another OS right now.

I doubt either of those will be better than the on-board sound built into your motherboard.

Unless you're a dedicated audiophile, on-board sound is usually "good enough."

There's nothing wrong with using sound cards you already have, but IMO, for "normal" PC use, it's generally not worth investing in one.

its not really a quality issue..more about output strength..
my Olevia TV has a buggy audio..sounds like static.
i dont really hear it unless i play a movie on my PC and crank up the volume.
if my sound output was stronger i could keep the volume level down.
i guess i need a pre-amp or something.

no, but many do since their audio setup is just standard PC gear.

Many use a digital out and connect it to a digital receiver that converts the digital stream to analogue stream.

Then there's those you get a good sound card and use it with a good pair of headphones or speaker setup.

Then there's the last group that get a DAC and use it with headphones or or speakers.

sound chip output?
something small package. DC powered.

i see some low cost 2 channel modules on ebay..
i guess i could run 3 of those for 6 channels?
