Head to your local Costco and pick one up. It's 98.99 with 10 instant rebate. Then there's a mail-in rebate also. A coworker told me that if you go to the dentist lately you can pickup another rebate form for an additional 10 off. The Costco rebate does not requite a UPC code. The dentist rebate does...

Printable rebate form here from allisolm's post

I own a sonicare and love it It does a great job of cleaning your teeth................This is a hot deal if you actually get two complete brushes chargers ect... If you get two brush heads and are supposed to share this set up with somone else forget about it............ My advise would be to spring for another set up rather than share the bases....

This deal is warm if you only get one base. Either way, if you get a Soniccare your teeth and gums will be happy.........

No I'm not a dentist or work for Phillips... I'm just a happy owner of the Sonicare

Philips Sonicare Quadrapacer 4600 (2 handles) $88.87 at Sam's Club.

SKU = 662986

$88.87 - Sonicare $10 Rebate = $78.87 + tax

The Sonicare Quadrapacer 4600 includes two complete toothbrushes, one charger base, and one travel case. In addition to the 2 minute timer, there is a 30 second interval timer. If the Costco Sonicare lacks two individual bases then the Costco deal is very mild salsa.

If you still have doubts, e-Bay sells the 4600 for about $75 - $80 with $10 shipping. Most B&M retail stores have lesser models for over $100.

As for me, I do just fine on a daily basis by flossing first, brushing second, and fluoride rinse third.

I know about the sams club deal but they seem to have been removing them from the stores lately. I drove around to several stores here in CA and I can't find theirs anymore.

I dumped my sonicare for the Braun. I will not go into the disgusting details, lets just say that the sonicare just did not clean my teeth. At the advise of my dentist I got a Braun 3D, and I love it. My dentist sells both sonicare and braun units, so I can only assume that he is not biased, but this is a mute point since I concur his advise personally. IMHO the braun kicks ass, and here is why:

1) Cleaner feeling teeth.
2) Less brush pressure needed. Great for us with receeding gums.
3) Cheaper brush heads, $4.17 each at Costo. Sonicare = $9.00.
4) Twin speeds.
5) Motor slows down when charging is needed. The sonicare stops dead in mid brush.

The Braun does not have the Quadpacer, but it is easily forgotten after a few uses.

Check with your dentist. I got both sonicare and braun through him and both were cheaper than the same deal at Costco and Sams.

Sonicare is coming out with a new brush called the sonicare elite. This is probably why you can get some deals on the older units.

As for the sonicare vs Braun/Oral B debate, I hear they are the same... its really a personal preference thing. In fact, I've heard that a regular toothbrush works just as well if you are careful brushing. Electric brushes are really good for older ppl and ppl w/ arthritis... They are also better at cleaning behind your back molars.

I've used both and I prefer the sonicare over the braun any day... The braun was nothing special at all, it just twirled like a $8.99 kids electric toothbrush. The sonicare is so much more powerful and it requires no pressure at all.

I've used both the Braun 3d and the current sonicare. I have a strong preference for the sonicare. It feels like there is a lot more cleaning going on and it does a noticeably better job of cleaning two difficult areas (due to recession) in my mouth.

My girlfriend, a dental hygenist, says that some people get poor results when they move from braun to sonicare. She says she has to 'work with some patients' when they switch to the sonicare, implying to me that there is a technique problem. I can't imagine what it would be. It seems straightforward. She thinks the sonicare is a better product.

I looked at the sonicare elite yesterday. It has a row of lights which I assume indicate the battery charge. This should fix the 'dying in mid brush' problem that sat4fun pointed out.

Here is some propaganda on the elite:

The new Sonicare Elite, with superior cleaning technology, makes excellent oral hygiene even easier to achieve. Its patented second generation sonic technology uses a combination of high frequency bristle motion and dynamic cleaning action. The Sonicare Elite's new slim, angled neck and tapered brush head focuses powerful cleaning action in hard-to-reach interproximal, subgingival and posterior areas to remove 20% more plaque. Its contour-fit bristle design surrounds teeth for precision cleaning, and a new ergonomic grip improves brushing maneuverability. The Sonicare Elite also features new, dual brush speeds, allowing users to switch between High for optimal brushing power, and Low for sensitive areas, tongue brushing and gum massage.

The elite is supposed to be an improvement over the old sonicare. As far as I know, there has only been one model until the elite. You can identify the two by looking at the brush head. On the original, it is straight. On the elite it angles forward about 20 degrees from the body. The elite will not be available in retail until 'early 2003'.

I just got a sonicare, and it's great. Better than that cheap battery powered crest.

NEVER BUY A CYBERSONIC. IT'S CRAP, AND IMPOSSIBLE TO RETURN.

There is no comparison between Braun 3D and Sonicare... Sonicare is truly the best one. I've used all of them starting with the Braun years ago, and reluctantly bought the Braun 3D after the heavy debate, but I am much disappointed. Sonicare cleans teeth much better, and it actually increase the effectiveness of whitening toothpaste! If this doesn't convince you, then you should think of this: Sonicare brushhead last much much longer than Braun's. The Braun's is cheaper, but the design is poor and less durable. In contrast, the Sonicare brushheads easily last the 6 month lifespan as claimed if not longer.

I did however find a decent alternative. HoMedics makes a toothbrush called SonicDent (SoniDent???) sold at Target, K-Mart, and Amazon.com for only $29.99 with 2 heads. It's a tri-speed ultrasonic unit with very sleek and slim design that is easy to hold. I find it be very effective, a closely second to Sonicare, and it fared significantly better than Braun 3D and lightyears better than the Braun Ultras... The people that are claiming Braun's is better are probably not using the Sonicare correctly...

Anyone out there know how to modify the 30-day trial brush. I have one that has expired and would like to hack it. I know someone a few years back here had done it. All I recall is they had dremeled it apart and attached an AC adapter.

Thanks

Doug

I thought you were joking until I found what you are talking about by searching on Google. How clever - a brush with enough juice for 60 2-minute brushings.

An interesting example of a staid non-tech company picking up shareware software tactics.
