Not very much. I get my podcasts over wifi before leaving home, then I do some browsing to and from work.

I use 15-20GB a month on my VZW unlimited plan. I do everything from streaming music, tethering, web browsing, email, shopping, navigation, Skype, video and so on. When you get 80Mbps/30Mbps consistently while at work, it's easy to use a lot of data.

Less than one gig a month usually. I have WiFi everywhere at home and work etc. I don't watch movies or listen to music on my phone or stream anything. Mostly just the occasional game, phone calls (I know right?), some book reading, texting, and random apps like the Chive etc.

I prefer my home desktop for shopping and gaming etc.

No carriers ever had unlimited, all were 5GB except for Sprint. Of course there's always going to be those people that abuse and go crazy but lowering everybody's caps to ridiculously low levels because of the 1% is dumb. Lowering the caps even more is hurting the growth in the mobile sector we've had.

wat? I've used over 40 gigs in a month on tmobile with no issues.

Why? Pretty sure most of the data usage documented in this 3.5 year old thread no longer reflects that of today's average user.

I guess it could be interesting if the original posters updated their usage now as compared to back then though ...

Back when I started this I was using mostly the wifi option unless out on the road and it was minimal - 100MB/mo or so. Now, I keep mobile on all the time and hit 1.5+GB and that is strictly web/gmail. I don't do facebook/twitter/rss/instagram or any of the social media stuff but use navigation, though I do d/l large chunks of maps when I know when I know where I will be via wifi.

Changed the plan to a 2GB/Mo on a Family Plan, so all is good. Hell, anymore 200MB/Mo would barely allow me to keep my apps updated. Getting time for new phones so will have to evaluate and possibly switch to another carrier as my speeds are ok but they need to do something on the price - 2 smart phones, 1 dumb phone (mother in law - if she had the internet she would get into a Nigerian scam the first chance she got) with only txting, unlimited txting on all, 2GB/mo on the smart phones and their rollover minutes for phone (not data...yet) for ~$160/Mo. This month the contract is up so we will see what ATT offers. My home is kind of in a Rf saturated area so the speeds aren't that good - 2Mbps down/1Mbps up

Phone Data - How much do you use and what type of user are you? Facebook/Twitter/Streaming Audio/Video, etc

thanks in advance,
bob

It's my sole internet source at home, I routinely hit my 5GB cap within a week or two of my billing cycle.

I watch a good amount of anime, where each episode weighs in at roughly 250MB.

Tmobile says about 5gb a month but I know it's more since they don't put the music freedom usage into their statistics. Probably closer to 8gb with that included.
