A lot of places the first phone interview is with someone from HR so it isn't technical but just focuses on all of the behavioral and background stuff. Definitely be prepared for the usual where do you see yourself in 5 years, what do you think is you biggest strength/weakness type questions. it's also good to have thought about any relative knowledge or experience you might want to discuss ahead of time so you don't have to think to much about if if they ask.
Also be sure to have a glass of water nearby in case you need it.
At my current job (ASIC designer), I had a phone screen -- job in Colorado, I was in Florida at the time. It was VERY technical. After 45 minutes, I felt like I had done three rounds with Mike Tyson. So, is it a technical interview?
I've had a few over the years. Have a copy of your resume in front of you & be yourself. Try to be as relaxed as possible, so you can answer the questions with a clear head. If there are resources that you think would be helpful during the call (specific to the job you're interviewing for), have those in front of you as well. Be prepared.
