photo shop question

Ok working on a project for someone. They brought me a bunch of disks with images on them he wants me to make printable. They were taken on an old sony floppy camera so the resolution is pretty bleek (640x480) was woundering if anyone knew a better way to scale images in photoshop besides the image size function..

Was looking for somethng that would do a good job faking extra resoltuion so it prints a half way decent 4x6 any help would be greatly apreciated. I know this is a long shot but its worth a few bucks to me if i can come up with something for them so i told them I would give it a shot

There isn't really anything you can do other than resizing. Maybe you can stitch a few pictures together to make a bigger picture?

Well sounds like you know that you cannot really make something a better resolution when you dont have a better original. Interpolation is the only thing you can do to fill up that space. Some methods do better interpolation then others but it will all be blurry to some degree. 640x480 will only give you about 113dpi at a 6x4 size. Fine for monitor viewing but not so good for print. There are some "increase resolution filters" but they are just smoke and mirrors so to speak. You can do it yourself by adding some soft blurs, finding edges, etc.

As we all know, faking extra-resolution is damn near impossible, and requires gigaflops to perform when possible.
The only thing I can recommend is to use Irfanview. It's got some nice features and such that you can perform. Oh yeah, it's much faster (to load, among other things) than Photoshop, though it can never replace Photoshop (ha!!).
In order to take full advantage, download the plugins too. It's all freeware.

thanks for all the info I knew ahead of time this prolly no going to be the easiest but when i get home from work today I might try that Atmar Genuine Fractal program out to see how well it works looked pretty impressive from the samples I saw
