I use Neat Image. Very very very nice program, with camera profiles and advanced noise filtering. I can finally have decent looking pictures at ISO 400 with my A70.

It even makes ISO100 pics look noticably better...

I did notice the people standing after taking the picture... That was the best of a bad bunch of pics since I didn't have a tripod there but was instead resting the camera on a handrail that was vibrating a tiny bit, about 20 others were leaning on the same handrail.

Great pics from everyone! The black and white park seat picture covered in snow is fantastic!

Regarding the noise filters, many of the better prosumer cameras have a noise reduction feature that will take a picture (lets say 10 second shutter) and then it will close the shutter and take another 10 second picture. It then subtracts the noise its picked up in the second picture (which should be completely black) from the first picture.

Instant perfect digital pictures at high ISO's and long shutter exposures

Just for people's reference, if you look at the noise reduction picture above, you'll see a blue-ish flaring of bright parts of the image. If your camera has apeture adjustment, increase the apeture and it will dramatically reduce the flaring. The disadvantage here is it will reduce the shutter speed due to less light entering, increasing the chance of shake.

nope... had an UV filter on for color correction, but the f717 has a 5x optical zoom that i was using fully.

edit: i think i know why you're puzzled. its a crop of the moon from a 5MP image (the rest of the background was black anyway), as opposed to me resizing a 5MP image to 800 by 600.

Great pics everyone!! I am going to Scotland on May 1st for 17 days and will take alot of pics. I have a Canon G3, Canon Rebel Ti with several good lenses and last but least a Canon MC70 Camcorder. I can't wait to take some pics of the highlands and castles there! We are also going on a whale watching tour and spending 2 days in Iceland. I also am proposing to my g/f over there, just bought her diamond yesterday. The tricky part will be getting the ring through all the airports without her knowing! Not that I need it but wish me good luck!

Very nice pics everyone. The wave pics were awesome. did you all take photography class? I'm just a beginner but would like to take pictures like you guys. Also looking to buy a new digicam (currently have an olympus 470z 2 mp)
What other programs are you using to process your pics? Photoshop I presume? I really need to learn more about
all the technical stuff, ie, iso, etc.

Not sure i was included, but I'm responding anyway. The best thing to do is experiment. Most of my shots are experimentation. Pick up a beginning photography book and read. The only program I use is Photoshop and any of the pics i've posted, all i've done is cropped. nothing else.

A good resource for photography information and tips is photozo.com. I've gotten a lot of good tips from those forums.

No, I haven't taken a photo class. One day I just picked up a camera and went out to take pictures. I've been hooked ever since. I just basically bought the equipment and experimented. So like pyonir says, just get the camera and try stuff. Reading books can help on the technical side of things like aperture, shutter speed, lighting, etc...

I use Photoshop for all of the post processing of the photos along with a plug-in called Neat Image. I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread. Works quite well...
