I got the link from DPreview.com's Canon forum. At first glance I thought amateur, but after some more review, you are right.

I never heard exactly what happened with that incident. I knew that a bunch of rebels took over a school and that the school was on fire, but never knew the outcome... I assume the military moved in and took out whoever they needed to, but never heard exactly what happened.

I don't know, but these things don't happen in Russia IMO. They either kill their own kind or blow things up in Moscow which, strictly speaking, isn't Russia either.

actually it IS Russia. Moscoiw is the capital of Russia. And they say the educational system is failing... :frown:

I don't think anybody knows for sure, it just sort of got really violent and so the authorites moved in.

I guess when you kill 10% of a country's population they turn in to child murderers. Who knew?

I believe the "official" explanation is that some of the explosives detonated while the rebels were rearranging them. In the chaos, hostages tried to flee and the Russian Special Forces had to return cover fire since the rebels started shooting fleeing hostages. With no other choice, Special Ops then stormed the building relatively unprepared and w/o much of a plan.

Either way, a pretty tough set of choices..

If anything, you might be able to draw comparisons with the Waco, TX incident.

Seems like the troops stormed in, not knowing the situation well enough, and more people (kids) died than should have.

I know that, of course. But Russian people don't consider Moscow to be a Russian city, b/c it's so different. People in Moscow aren't the same as in the rest of Russia (I mean, their culture differs greatly).

oh no, I am not saying you're wrong, but I've seen several other so-called "amateur" pictures and boy they are very nicely taken. I am guessing you will need a permit / license to be a so-called "professional."
