OK, I've got a few questions

1)If I want to save a file as a tiff how can I tell it what dpi to make it (i.e. 600 dpi)

2)How can I make text go at an angle from lower left to upper right?

3)Is there any way to use the styles/shapes presets like in Adobe Imagestyler?

TIA

1. You set the resolution of the image when you open/make a new image in PS. Saving it as a .tiff is basically saving it w/o compression. If you want to save a lower res version of the file you can save it as a jpeg and adjust the settings accordingly.

2. If you just want to rotate the text use Free Transform.

3. I'm sure there is, but I don't know how.

1. Go to the image pulldown menu and select image size then you can change your resolution accordingly in the box.

2. Use the free transform, but holding shift down while you rotate will rotate the text 45 degrees at a time. ie. 0, 45, 90, 135, 180 etc. Easier to use if you want your type on a 45 degree angle from corner to corner.

3. Never used imagestyler, but photoshop allows you to create any custom brush or style you like. Not to clear on what your asking, don't know if you mean vector shapes?

no,
resolution and dpi are very different. resolution is how many pixels (dimensions) and dpi is DOTS PER INCH

if you're only viewing on the computer, a dpi of 72 is fine. however if you are going to print or enlarge, a dpi of 300 or more is needed

Well, I am going to make some pictures to be printed on shirts, and the guy told me they need to be tiff images at 600 dpi.

How can I set the dpi?

Under image size, the last box says resolution that should say 600 pixels per inch if that is what the guy who's silk screening the shirt asked for.

The width and height measurements above it will be the size of the image on the t-shirt when it's printed. i.e. a 5x5 in inches would appear as a 5 inch by 5 inch box.

Hope this helps...
