Alright here's my situation. I have a server box at my house that I set http & ftp servers on. At college, I'm able to access the box's servers with its IP. Duh.
Now the problem is, Comcast could change that IP at any given time, thus inhibiting my ability to access the said servers on it. So I decided to make a "simple" php script that would check every 24 hours for a new IP (using the $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) function, and if it wasn't the same as it was 24 hours ago, I'd have it email me saying that the IP was changed and the new IP is whatever.
Now I have it done up to the email part. The mail() function executes, yet it doesn't send me an email. I set up a freeware SMTP server on my box, but it doesn't seem to be accepting any connections. Anyone have any ideas that can help? Maybe somehow configuring outlook express to do it on my box?
