php-mysql woes

I'm having trouble setting up my apache server to work properly. I finally got php supported but i can't get sql support. I've installed php-mysql but the scripts keep kicking out undefined functions on vaild statements.

I used MySQL 3.23.49a, php-4.0.3, mod_php-4.0.3 and php-mysql-4.0.3. What's going on? Do i need to alter the httpd.conf or something? Perhaps the install of php-mysql put the lib's in the wrong place? For reference this machine is running RH 7.2

Is your first command in php (on a page) to bind mysql with a valid username/password combo?
Do u use a database that actually exists? There is a test database which is normally included.
Do ALL mysql commands generate errors - if so, does PHP report the error, or is the return value of MySQL the error.
If the former is the case, then the PHP library module that apache includes is not the one that is compiled with mysql support.
Try to find all php modules on your system, look for the newest one, and put the path to that one into your httpd.conf

I should have mentioned before that this database and script combo are running perfectly together on another apache/mysql system, just can't get it to work here.

i'll parse through the httpd.conf again, see if i've missed anything.

Should i have to edit php.ini? I'm pretty sure that php4 has built in support for MySQL, but i could be wrong.

I parsed through the php.ini file and surely enough the include path was wrong. I hate computers sometimes....

Glad that your problem was resolved so easily

PHP can be compiled w/o MySQL support, but a separate option has to be specified for that. Default is with MySQL
