Nothing is ahead of its time. We are all and everything is in the time that it is in, not before or after, ahead or behind. What ever is is a sign of the time that it is in and that's it!

It just refers to something that society accepts at a future date, but when the concept was originally introduced people didn't know what to do with it. It's a very apt phrase.

If you want to attack a phrase, go for "Straight from the horse's mouth". I don't want to accept anything from a horse's mouth. It's all drippy and slobbery, and they'll pretty much open their mouth for anyone with a carrot or an apple.

You are simply ignorant, examples of "ahead of their times" ideas and inventions are legion. From two thousand-plus year old electroplating using acid batteries, a brass mechanical astronomy computer pulled from a sea wreck site to Frank Loyd Wright's building designs that needed modern building materials and construction to complete.
