I heard that Asus has one ready to go and it is supposed to be released this month. Anyone know when the release date is and are there and previews of this card on the net yet??

I wasn't sure where to put it but since it helps display 3D games I figured this was as good any place to put it.

it's pointless to release it now when practically no games out there can support the engine. by february hopefully there are few games which can take the advantage of ageia

Hopefully the next gen GPU's can take care of this so we don't have to shell out another $200 just for this garbage.

Who says it's garbage? It could be the best thing since slided bread, for all we know.
I'm looking forward to it.

I think the price needs to drop down to ~$50 for it to hit mainstream. It will be a LONG time before there is a hardware physics standard that more than a handful of game companies use.

So about 20million transistors are used in things like AVIVO and Purevideo? That die space could have been better used by adding some general purpose math pipelines that can be used for some more general purpose math - it could then be used for all kinds of things, including physics. I'd also like to see better AI in games, so the math could be used there too.

Sliced bread is the cheapest worst quality, worst tasting bread ever

It's going down like the Virtua Boy.

I had not ever heard of that before.

It's actually somewhat of an interesting idea. I wonder if someone will revisit the concept and do it right.

whoops i almost got that confused with Virtua Guy which is a stupid desktop thing. some naked guy simply walks across your screen to cheap porn music shaking his ass at you.

its hilarious to install on other peoples computers though

I don't why they'd release it now...do any games support it yet? No reason to buy hardware you can't even use.

Its never piontless releasing something even if the game programmers have to catch up , like windows , 32 bit and now 64 bit and dual core cpu's and the games will come but how many companies would go out on a lim and develop something with no technology to use it on ? Sony wont ! ASUS wont ! microsoft wont ! intel wont !
So its tech first programmers second , and us gamers third , but hay lm happy knowing a physic's chip is on its way, l still think a cpu company like intel or amd will end up owning this technology and develop another core to run it , we will have to wait n see.
So how many people use sli video cards , with stuff all coding to take full advantage, and dual cores in the same boat, hahaha some windows operating systems can severly hinder games performance, l find the whole argument ''you cant use it theres no coding for it '' a JOKE , so what , who drives the industry , us gamers , $$$ , there will always be catch up being played , but my dual core is really sweet considering theres no programms or very few that can take advantage, but it can effectively be used on any game, l can assign any cpu l want to the game, giving me a free cpu, do that on your ''out of date works on every programme [ coff coff ] single core cpu !
l would put money on game programmers racing to be able to use this tech when its working right , for the increase in games performance or the size of the game will be dramaticly altered.

But its a great idea , even though its been around for 18 odd months now with very little progress.

The idea of bf3 being 64 bit coded , dual core or triple core coded, dual vid card coded, a totally destroyable battlefield , hydrolic lines in aircraft that can be shot out, blowing an arm of an enemy , the list is endless and mindboggling , l cant wait ......!

While some of the things you mention would be nice, it just adds even more complexity to what needs to be programmed, thus causing development times to stretch out even further and increases costs. Not to mention that it will result in even buggier games than we have now. I'm all for innovation as long they don't bite off more than they can chew.

As far as I know, City of Villians has support for it which is a game I play. Cryptic is a development partner with Ageia so they created CoV with support and will add it to City of Heroes in an update.
