Picasa Almost Broke My Monitor!!!

For some reason, it was scanning my videos folder that was on MY OTHER DRIVE, when I told it to just scan my pictures folder only...

Well when it started scanning my videos, it gave a little preview, and everytime it gave a preview, the nvidia full screen video would kick in, and switch my second monitor to 640x480 to play the video. Except this switched back and forth from my desktop 2048x1536 res to 640x480. I didn't even know what was happening and saw flickers, until I saw a video preview on the screen for a split second.

After my monitor wouldn't display an image anymore, and was blinking a yellow light, meaning it needs repair.
I unplugged the power for a minute to do a power cycle, and luckly it still turned on.

So make sure you turn off nvidia fullscreen video before you use picasa, otherwise you will get hardware damage.

wow. that's brutal.
what's nvidia full screen video? is it part of the nvidia driver or a stand alone software?

please define "16-bit PSD". Are you talking about files using 16 bit per channel RGB colorspace?

part of the driver, that recognizes anything on the video overlay and fullscreens it on the second monitor.

if you are already organized with your photos, i'd say that it's usefulness is minimal. but i just find about a hundred of old photos that i thought i could never find again, or i didn't even think still exist. they are buried deep down somewhere on the hard drive, and picasa found it.

yeah i wasn't terribly impressed....but i've always been neat and organized with my photos. I organize them into categories instead of albums by year/folder anyway...and then ifranview is still the best imageviewer IMO (even reads the embedded jpg in my canon raws (but doesn't rotate them based on exif ).

Well... I sat down and organized 5,000 photos yesterday, so I uninstalled Picasa. No point really if you're already organized.
