Have you worn them for a day yet?

My new glasses always feel weird and tunnel vision-y when I first put them on, even if they're the exact same prescription on a different frame.

The ophthalmologists I go to always tell me they lower the prescription so that my eyes aren't too stressed.

This monstrosity. They flip back and forth behind the test lenses to determine what your prescription should be.

When I got lasik years ago they had a machine that figured out my prescription to a T. It basically put an image in front of me and started adjusting things until it came out clear in my eyes. Took maybe 30 seconds. The doc of course did the normal test with the machine you linked, and it was exactly the same.

I asked how accurate the machine was, and he said it was so good if his numbers were off he would have another doc do the test. He would only be off by a fraction so they retested with another doc, who often got the same numbers as the machine.

He explained that it was most likely due to my inaccuracies in the 1 vs. 2 part of the exam and a second test would validate the computer.

I cannot see out of my right eye. You don't even know frustration until you are blinded.
I've thought about that and decided that it must suck, every day, all day. The upside would be the eye patches....paisley, shark teeth, iron head....

Full disclosure: My eyes are apparently screw according to this doctor. He explained he could give me a prescription to help when I'm at work and in front of a computer and/or looking at my phone -- in essence a "Reading/Computer" prescription. But that would screw up whenever I try to see anything far. Or he could give me a "far" prescription but then that would screw up the Reading/Computer use.

He did not recommend bifocals as I'd have to be looking out the bottom of the lenses then when I sit in front of my PC -- chin elevated.

So I took the Reading/Computer prescription. And they suck for everything. I can't see a damn thing far away and even up close the FOV seems REALLY small. It's sort of like when in some fantasy movie or something and you're supposed to have he POV through some seeing eye-ball or something? The center is clear but everything in the peripheral is "wavy" and "drunk" look.

And Jesus do they hurt my eyes quickly. Like within a minute my eyes are SCREAMING from stress

I will say that in that narrow FOV though things are crystal freaking clear.
sounde like you need a new doctor...something is not right.....

I have acute astigmatism in both eyes and I finally relented and got glasses!! Best move I ever made!! It is wonderful being able to read license plates....etc....my progressives were not the cheapest progressives, because I understand you get what you pay for, mine were Zeiss progressives!!

No idea what my Dr ordered but for $600, no insurance, I was turned off.

Hope you and yours are doing well.

I'm not an eye doctor but I think I remember reading somewhere that the machine does most of the work -- they always start my eye exams off with that one. The doctors, apparently, already know which one (i.e. 1 or 2) should be better. They're usually way too close for me to call.

They should just use those for figuring out prescriptions for glasses and contacts too then. Obviously we can't be trusted to choose 1 or 2 properly

This is my situation too.
I was using dollar store reading glasses on my computer and that was fine but I decided to get my eyes checked and a pair of "real" glasses.
I also hear the place has a "super" eye exam and the latest eye shape crap and they can see other health issues blah blah blah.
I go in, they take some tests, then I see the doctor, he comes in a barely looks at my eye pictures and then starts the eye test with the binocular things.

He going along and he doesn't really get it to were I would see perfect then it sucked when he showed a hand wand with text on it up close.
He seemed pushy and in a rush to get rid of me.
He kept arguing with me that he cant get it better and that I need 2 or 3 pairs of glasses for each closeness...wtf!

I paid alot of money for this "super" eye test and felt ripped off.

Today I got the glasses. I had to choose "reading" glasses cause I didn't want grandpa bifocal or progressives for $600 bucks.

Right away they suck, its like 3d goggles you get at the movie theater. The one eye is still blurry and the lady didn't adjust them at all and was in a rush to just get rid of me, while another customer was getting hers heated and bent to fit.
I feel like going back and saying I dont want them....I'm pissed off too op, wth?

The dollar store glasses stay put and I see fine, these ones I paid $$$ for slip down and keep touching my eyebrow...
