Picking up my 30" dell tonight and have 1 question....

No, there is no cheap solution to convert analog output to dual link DVI digital. Thats a poor display for XBOX, thats for sure.

even if you could find a way to make it work, it would look like crap because the xbox 360 brodcasts at 1280x720 max, the dell 30" is 2560x1600.

That wouldnt matter anyway......i have the 2405 dell which is 1920*1200 and it looks amazing.

Well, presumably it would double it up to 2560x1440 (which should look OK if you're sitting far enough away, just letterboxed). Some games also support 1080i (which, while still smaller than native on that display, would be closer).

Isn't MS supposed to release a DVI/HDMI output kit at some point?

Otherwise, there are some (slightly) cheaper VGA->DVI transcoders, like this one. Not sure if it supports 720p resolution, though (lists 1024x768 and 1280x1024, but not 1280x720). If it does, you could combine that with the XBox VGA output kit to get it onto a DVI display... but that's a lot of cash to do that.

I see what i can find at frys tonight and keep you all posted with pics. Im curious to see how my new screen will make my 24" look side by side.

The ATI-specific adapter he linked to? It's not a generic DVI->component transcoder; the video card is doing the real work. Plus, it definitely doesn't work the other way (YPbPr->DVI).

Is there a way to double-up single-link DVI and convert it to dual-link somehow? They should have made them backwards compatible. (Well I thought single link just used part of the pins on the DVI connector and dual link used more. Is it up to the display how to 'interpret' the pin inputs?) I wonder if the Dell can take input from the single-link DVI pins and use that? Isn't a dual-link DVI connector the same thing as a single-link one (or should I give you some of what I'm smoking)?

DVI only since it requres Dual Link DVI to run @ native resolution.

yes, there's been a big demand across forums to take pictures of the 30' and 24' side by side to see the difference. I would really appreciate it.

Because Dell is an idiot. They thought if they'll drop it, we will go and buy TVs from Dell instead... bunch of retards.

All they have achieved is we're all (everybody who wants more than a one frikkin single input) refuse to buy this and waiting for Samsung or somebody else to come out with our solution.
