Last weekend I was able to attend part of a convention called Trek Expo 2002 in my hometown (Tulsa, Oklahoma.) Unfortunately, due to illness, I missed some of the convention, but what I caught was great. I don't have the stamina to gabble about it right now, but I wanted to share a few pics of some of the convention speakers.

Studio glamour shots of actors do not always capture their essential oomph; you would not believe how dynamic and beautiful Nichelle Nichols is today. What a terrific lady.

Robert Picardo looks like he should be in a Trekkie Audience I've always liked the characters he's played for some reason.

I'm curious also, what were most of the people like? Were most dressed up? Or are there a lot of "normal" folks who just enjoy the series?

I've wanted to go to one, but not all the way in Vegas or where ever they have them out west. If one would come close to where I live I might go. Of course I would have to drag my wife kicking and screaming though .

She is divorced from Alexander Siddig, who played Dr. Bashir on DS9.

One interesting thing I didn't know: Nana is the niece of Cyd Charisse, a wonderful dancer from the 1950s.

For those who are too young to remember Cyd, she was one of the greatest dancers ever to grace the screen.

I really liked her looks until the episode in DS9 where she was in a negligee. Looked a lot sexier in her uniforms.

Just proves that a few clothes are a lot sexier in most cases than sheer nudity.

Michael Dorn sure looks older than on DS-9. I guess Klingons don't suffer from receding hairlines the way we humans do!

Suzie Plaxson is a fox, for sure. I bet she's a pretty smart gal, too, yes?

And aaaaaaah, Amanda Tapping. I love the inter-play between her character and Richard Dean Anderson's character on SG-1. Very sexy in the same way that Scully and Mulder dialogue in X-Files was sometimes sexy. These people are NEVER gonna get it on, but by golly ya know they want to!

Plaxson and Tapping were bright and witty. But the standout in the brains department was Robert Picardo. This guy is sharp as a tack, and obviously very well educated. Not only that, but his singing voice is superb (yes, he really does sing opera.) He and Jeri Ryan are the only members of the Voyager cast that I am going to miss.
