So glad the 80s are done. No smartphones, tablets, internet and extremely primitive PCs..very boring times. I remember days when I was going out of my mind with boredom as a kid growing up in a small town.

Ugg, same with the restaurants. Always thought it was weird. You couldn't leagally walk down the street drinking a beer, not bothering anyone. However, you could smoke anywhere you damn pleased. There are some things I miss about the late 80s/early 90s. Indoor smoking in public places is not one of them.

There was something though about not being connected all the time. I'd probably read more books for starters. I wonder what ever happened to that family that was trying to live like it was the 80s again. I figure they must have gotten fed up with it by now.

I recall flying on smoking planes. Filthy fucking habit. I wonder what similar thing we do today that we can look back with derision in 20 years from now.

You didn't see many young fat people back then because we actually played outside (which I'm sure you remember). I played football or basketball every weekend and many nights after school, along with riding my bike everywhere. Kids these days are content to sit in front of their Xboxes 24/7. Oh, and yes, stay off my lawn!

Oh yeah, it was awful. When you wanted to talk to someone, you had to actually call them and TALK to them!!! And when you were driving, you had to actually pay attention to the road around you instead of the smart phone in your hand, it was awful. I remember all those lonely weekends where I sat around lamenting the fact that I couldn't play with a device that hadn't been invented yet.

Fortunately I'm not old enough to remember much from those times, but where I live there was communism until the 90', some older people say it was better back then but in reality it's their mind distorting the past. We always reminisce the past in a skewed way. Communism is just awful, apart from party members we are all better off without it.

On a side note, has anyone ever been to Easton Town Center near Columbus OH? It's a freakin' outdoor mall the size of a small city! You could spend 3 days there and not hit all the stores. I'm amazed all those places can stay open.

I loved the place because, being a car guy, I saw more Ferraris, Lambos, and Porsches than the last season of Top Gear

I can't stand the outdoor mall in my town. This region has extremely hot summers and very cold winters, so it's almost never comfortable outside. It rains a lot too.

The parking layout is so stupid that most people never see the parking lot where 4/5ths of the parking is available. People don't even know it's there. If you try to drive all the way through the congested parking area to get there, it can take 20-30 minutes...no joke!
