Sweet Jesus! You did it! Well congratulations.

The SE is perfect for anyone who prefers an automatic. I?d go for the SE myself if I didn?t want a manual transmission. I?m just that kind of driver though.

Do read the manual. They tell you what you need to know about breaking it in. Basically, it says to drive gently for the first 500-1000 miles, and avoid driving at one constant speed for very long.

From the break-in section, move on to the maintenance schedule. You can keep this thing running great almost forever if you do all the things suggested in that section, particularly the oil (every 3,000-3500), the transmission fluid, and the coolant (every 2 years max, mileage basically doesn?t matter on the coolant).

Remember, the Hondas that I see running forever were mostly serviced at the dealership or a really good, non-chain (like Midas) mechanic with (this is important) genuine Honda parts. It can be a selling point for sure. Real gear heads know that genuine parts are generally preferable, unless the cost is prohibitive (like for alternators).

I?d get a coat of wax on there as soon as possible, and try to wax it at least twice a year. Contrary to conventional wisdom, new cars are not waxed at the factory. If you really want to make it look great, buy a buffer for $40 (or find a hot deal!), and use that. You get better results in less time with a buffer.

Enjoy your new Honda. (Times like this, I wish I had a real job already.)

If by some miracle, I ever become Bill Gates wealthy, remind me to buy you an NSX or something.

Having sold cars I can tell you that the jubilation you feel now will turn slowly to doubt and regret!(it happens to everyone)

Enjoy your new ride.

Thanks. Remind me when you become Bill Gates wealthy. And I'd take a job too.

WTF is RTFM?

I'm not really a family man, I just want a car which is reliable, gets good fuel economy, is safe and has excellent resale value. Ok screw it I just defined a family man, so I am.

Garfang - Thanks for the suggestions I'll definitely look over the owner's manual. The car dealer said to change the oil every 3,750 miles which sounds about right to me and I'll probably have it only done at a Honda dealership. I also intend on keeping all the original documents, oil changes and maintenance together in a safe place. So when I go to sell it I have paper proof that all the oil changes were done at the right interval, etc.

Would it be feasible to trade this in and get a 2004 Honda Accord in 2 years?

I love the price I paid. Someone I work with said they paid $19,200 for the EXACT SAME CAR in black color. I've read postings in the UseNet NewsGroups of people boasting the $18,800 they got their SE for.

tm37 - That's what I'm afraid of jubilation -> doubt -> regret.

foggy - Did you read my post above? What specific questions do you have? There was absolutely no haggling because I had the loss leader ad in my hand, they had the VIN # that I wanted in stock, so legally they had to sell it to me for the price advertised. 10 minutes after I came in 2 family's were inquiring about the SE and I bought the last one.

Actually I heard the SE was an EX without the inflated price and no ABS.

Fake woodtrim door panels
Keyless entry

Here's the Edmunds.com and CarsDirect.com for those of you who're wondering if I got a good deal or not. Am I the Grand Nagus or what?

I'm still in shock.

What should I know about breaking in the car, etc.? Any NEW CAR TIPS would be appreciated.

Congrats on the sweet new ride.!
My tip to you is to wax it ASAP, so it will stay looking as good as it does now. Good luck with it.

smartt - Yep the Honda Accord is the most stolen vehicle in the US, they're that popular :Q

phatcow - I honestly don't know the answer to your question but I've always thought the EX was the top of the line. Never heard of the SE until yesterday.

Muadib - Can I pay someone to wax it? If I do, where should I go and how much will it cost?

oh yeah, that too, since EX can come without leather in the 4 banger versions.

did you get side airbags on that? (also standard on the EX)
