I have a quick question. About what size is the average picture taken on a digital camera with a resolution of 1600x1200. And how many would fit on an 128 meg CF?
In addition to resolution, you usually have quality options as well..but a 1600x1200 standard quality picture will take ~100k on flash. I take 876x572 and pictures take ~40k on flash. With my 64 MB flash, I can store about 850+ pictures, and about 350 1600x1200..so you should definetly be able to store atleast 800 or so with 128 MB flash.
Most cameras will actually tell you exactly how many they can take once you set the right resolution and quality..Regards
It depends on what file format you save as. JPEG pictures would be relatively small,
but you'll lose some detail. TIFF files are loseless but the images that they create
are quite large, several times over that of JPEG.
It really depends on which digital camera and what kind of compression that camera uses...
but for your reference, I have a HP 315 camera... and at 1600x1200, a 128mb CF card can hold around 330 photos... If I take pics at the lowest setting (640x480), 128mb can hold more than 1000 pictures...
It's best to experiment. I have settled on 1024x768, low compression jpeg for my 2.1 mega-pixel Olympus C-2040. I get good quality 4"x6" prints. A lot depends upon your entire digital "system" (camera, subject matter, intended audience, printer, paper, etc.).
