St. Martini. Taken on my honeymoon in St. Martin. wish I'd removed the coaster before taking the pic.

Note to moderators: we need a "picture" button.
Yes, some of us are that lazy to type [img] tags

Not my best work, I am just rusty after a long hiatus.

Took this over the summer. Little guy ate a TON of different pests: mosquitoes, earwigs, beetles, etc. Kept the hostas nice and full this year.

The first photos I took with my Alien Bee flashes.

Very exciting! If I can get shots this great out of the box imagine what I can get when I learn how to use the damn things

You might want to go easy on the HDR next time. The sky's starting to look fake/post apocalyptic in these (esp the second one). #1 could benefit from some perspective distortion correction.

Also, if you look closely you can see the halos around the trees, rooftop, etc, which are trademark signs of overly done HDRs. It helps to do a little more work in PP to get rid of those.

Otherwise they're pretty decent pics tho

"Apocalyptic" HDR is exactly what I was going for. If I was attempting to represent my neighborhood more realistically, then I'd agree with everything you said. I'm certainly not trying to pass these off as straight-out-of-the-camera photos.

OK, the images at least lack contrast, but I would say that the subject in all three of them looks underexposed. I'd do a quick edit of one, but I don't have PS installed yet..just reformatted last night.

Are you sure you got the terminology right??

Underexposed would imply that the pic is too dark and that certainly does not seem to be a problem.

If anything there is TOO much light in these pics and the lack of contrast is because she is overly lit.

I probably need to tone down the lighting and aim for a look more like this:

No, your images are underexposed. They are too dark. There are *barely* highlights in any of those three, except for the backlit one obviously. Whites should not appear grey. There's no need to question my technical knowledge of the art.

edit: just installed PS to prove a point. I couldn't bump the whites on this much without making this image look like hell...but just a little processing can go a long way.
