Are those being shot thru an umbrella? The shadows look very harsh.

Thanks, yeah I know I have problem but sometimes it's hard to see on the back of the camera. I'll keep it in mind.

I use LR3. Both were converted using the D2x Mode 1 profile, I left WB as-shot, Punch, Sharpen Landscape, Auto-Tone. But I tend to like more saturation/contrast in my images.

The high-ISO was necessary because of two things: high shutter speed and small aperture. The high shutter speed was important because the wind was blowing the butterfly around, and I was shooting handheld, so I needed to stop the motion. The small aperture was necessary to get some useful depth-of-field with the macro. Even at f/11, I only got most of the body and part of the wing in focus, but it works for the shot.

Just got a 50mm F1.8 (new to photography - first lens other than the 18-55mm stock lens)

Taken on a Sony A230 (nothing special!)

What should I improve on?

Shot these this weekend with my 40D and an adapted Helios M44-4 58mm Lens. I'm really liking this lens and it only cost me $40
