These are some pictures of American soldiers in Iran bringing supplies to aid earthquake victims in Bam. They are very interesting because they show for the first time in two decades, American and Iranian soldiers working together.

Wouldn't that be three decades? The revolution was in '79...so that's three.
/I'm picky.

I do have to admit, that is pretty cool.

All of those Americans are CIA agents gathering info and planning the next coup. Damned Americans can never be aboveboard and honest about anything.

Just in case no one knows what he is talking about the CIA sponsored a coup in 1953 to remove the democratically elected governement of Iran in 1953 and replace it with the Shah who was more favorable to our interests. This led to years of hatred towards the Shah and the US/West culminating in the 79 coup.

Those pictures are very encouraging and hopefully the "Great Satan" and the "Axis of Evil" can use this to build on.

Math also involves the ones digit, too.
It's much closer to two decades than three.

Yes, yes, how in the world could we ever forget, what with the US haters wasting no opportunity to inject into any discussion the same two or three US blunders over and over and over. "Shaw of Iran, My Lay, Pinochet! Shaw of Iran, My Lay, Pinochet!"

So we should just forget our mistakes?..and are you calling me a US hater for bringing up historical facts?

Most Americans have no idea why the Iranians would be sore at us. Understanding on both sides is crucial to reconcilliation.

Am I wrong in thinking that the above is important?

The above IS important, and for even more reasons than are listed. You are correct in that understanding on both sides is crucial to reconcilliation. Unfortunately, ignorance hinders forgiveness which is required for understanding how to reconcile. In effect, the proverbial "pound of flesh" is never exacted and hostility reigns in the hearts of men despite the well meaning intention of those who seek peace.

The 766th is a composite AFRC unit composed of ANG units from Delaware and Oklahoma City if I remember correctly. Apparently they don't want the Iranians seeing name tags and unit patches. It is pretty common for flight crews over hostile territory to remove patches from thier uniforms. Generally only rank insignia remains. That is what velcro is for. This is from my experience with an AFRC unit.

Of course the C-130's still have tail numbers and AFRC markings.so it is pretty pointless.

In this picture the 1st Sergeant on the left still has his name tag, but I can't see his unit patch if he has one.

If you look at the pictures it is only the aircrews that have the patches removed (Pilots, loadmasters, crew chiefs, etc). The others have normal uniforms. This is pretty SOP for flight crews.

They just don't want to give them any more info than they have to. Those planes probably came from Kuwait, Qatar, or Dubai. What if they got shot down?

And the US haters would never let on in their incessant 'reminders' that Iranians weren't all that warm and fuzzy towards the West even before the coup. Part of the motive behind the coup was to crack down on the growing Islamic fundamentalism (read: anti-west fanaticism). Oops.

You might be stepping into a gigantic puddle of poop, youngster. Some of us here, the ones you call "US haters", have served our country with pride and dignity. What right do you have to call people names? What are your credentials?

EDIT: My post is directed at tcsenter.
