I started this topic at my forums, but we all know that there's more traffic here to answer my question. heehee

My cousin and I are thinking of getting our bellybutton pierced. She's had it done before, but I haven't. I'm a big wuss. I hate needles and I don't like pain. (Well, who really likes pain? eeeekkk) So, for those of you that have had your bellybutton pierced, did it hurt much? How long ago did you get it done? Do you like it or wish you wouldn't have?

I suggest you visit the body modification ezine and read peoples comments on it. My fiancee described it as the most painful thing she has ever experienced. The belly button is one of the more painful piercings (depending on how much soft tissue you have to poke it through).

As I said in your forum, my wife said it wasn't very painful at all.

Her nipples were much worse.

I think belly-button piercings look great on girls. The pain only lasts for a moment, you'll forget it quickly enough. Getting it done is certainly worth that little stab.

I had my eyebrow done about three years ago, and I barely even felt it. I say go for it!

Hmm I've talked to some other people IRL and they said it didn't hurt that much. I've been to a body modification site before, maybe I'll look there again. When I was on vacation I lost some weight. I'm hoping that if I get some incentive (like piercing my bellybutton) to stay thin and get thinner....it will help.

The bellybutton was more painful than the nipple for my fiancee. She's was really skinny when she had the belly button done and there wasn't any fat to poke it through so they put it through the muscle. Everyone is going to be different, depends on your nerve layout and if they happen to catch a bigger nerve.

My girlfriend had it done 5 years ago. She said it didn't hurt at all, but she hadn't eaten all day and passed out after having it done, so she had a real bad headache from hitting the floor. The only reason she regrets it now is cause everyone else has one also.

I've had my cartilage done and getting it pierced, for me, was less painful than getting my earlobe pierced. What hurt was afterward when it was healing. OUCH!

My wife had it done and said it wasn't too ad, but she 9 monts pregnant now and obviously can't have a ring in it. BUT it is major ugly, it looks like a big (2-3 inches) X so that is something to think about like belly tattoo's too, what will they look like when you have baby? There was a woman in our birth class with a sun around her belly button, looked like a solar system....

LMAO! Poor woman. I'm sure she'll be happy when the planets align and she's left with just a sun.

i used to think all piercings were gross, until my last gf. She had her tongue, ears, and belly done. The belly ring actually looked pretty good on her. As for the tongue ring, i couldn't imagine kissing her without gagging...that's how much i detested it. But not too long after we started kissing, i found a new liking to them!

But...i think it looks silly on older woman...and rediculous on young teeny boppers.

I was reading in a magazine where they listed which piercings were most painful in order from least to most. the earlobe of course was least and i remember the bellybutton was either the most or near the most painful. i can't remember exactly.

anyways, i hate needles too and after reading the article i decided i'll never get my bellybutton pierced even tho i really want to! i'm too much of a chicken. but hey..u can always get those fake ones hhehe.

I'm considering getting a tattoo, but I wouldn't pierce myself. Not unless it's something like a small silver stud in the left ear or something similar.

Well, since my cousin has had hers done before, I'll let her go first. If I don't like the looks of it....I'll pass. lol I dunno...I really want to do it, but we'll see.

Nik, if you get a tat, you have to show me pics!

If you wanna look/be different, I would have to go against drilling holes in yourself.

Something tells me the clitoris or the perineum would be the worst!!! :Q I've met people with piercings down there but have no interest in trying it out myself. A friend of mine likes to stand in the frozen food section with her nipple rings

Ask any doctor, bellybuttons are one of the most prone areas for infection.
I personally opted to have my eyebrow pierced and it was quite painless (and I'm a big wuss, can't handle pain at all!).
Unfortunately I had to take it out in order to get a job.

Some of you may remember that I got a piercing about a year ago and for all the peope who said not too....

A year later,I still love it and so does my wife. So if you want one, who cares what anyone else thinks about it?

BTW, mine was one of the least painful, but one of the bloodiest piercings you can get

I have heard (I know a few girls that got them) that a belly button piercing takes the LONGEST to completely heal. Only about 1/2 of the girls I knew took good enough care of it to make it last, the other half had to take it out....after it got infected.

Exactly what I think. Plus, the one I want is easily covered by clothing and I can take it out if I don't like it. I'm happy to hear that you still like yours, though. It would have sucked if you went through all that and not liked it.
