This makes no sense to me. The whole point of American conservatism, and hence the Republican Party is to insure the existence of a political machine that can train via propaganda enough numbers of voters to stay in power. The only way todo that is to create fear and via fear division of the population.

They have done so by attempting dominance of one segment of the population, religious white voters over everyone else since religious people are already conditioned to cult behavior by fear so they came ready made and only needed extra racial bigots included in the mix.

But this was a bad bet as it is a shrinking demographic. Young people tend not to be either religious or overly racially triggered. The Republican Party therefore is a party that is dying and only a Trump like candidate Cuban save them. They can’t control and brainwash enough voters to maintain a majority. There only hope is to destroy democracy which they hate because of the terrible financial cost and absurd lengths they are having to go to keep control.

They all know the party is over, that democracy will remove them from power snd they will lose there elite status.

They created the need for a Trump and is just wishful thinking that the monster they created if gotten rid of won’t be equivalently replaced. They can’t survive democracy and will unconsciously recreate some other monster to kill it.

This is my opinion based on how I see self hate operating.

His endorsement is pretty weak either shit the fuck up or out a sensible qualifier on it like “for this election” or “it’s important to support democracy”

Conservatives giving other conservatives a permission structure to abandon the Trump cult and get on board with Harris for the election is fine with me. I want Harris to win. And at the end of the day, she doesn't have to really listen to them.

Typical obtuse conservative who thinks that the majority of the country thinks like he does. So, George, exactly how many times have Republicans won the popular vote for president in the last 30 years? That would be once.

How many Americans believe in a woman's right to an abortion? That would be almost 80%. How many Americans believe in universal background checks for firearm purchases? Again, almost 80%. Or how about access to affordable and adequate health care? Same again, only it's over 80% for that one.

It's a fairly big deal symbolically at least. Between him and Dick Cheney, you have the epitome of what used to be considered republican/conservative views now expressing support for the party they've opposed all of their adult lives.
