PIII 550 (non-cartridge) heatsink

I was given a computer that has a Slot PIII 550 and I can't get the heatsink off to but a better one on with a fan. I did some research and found this page that says (non-cartridge) here is the pic of what mine looks like Here. Is it possible to remove the heatsink on this processor? BTW is has black clips holding everything together if you can't see the pic to well.

usually the retention system for that cpu is on the back, you slide a bracket to the side and it releases, letting the pins slide back thru the cpu. it's an SECC2 cpu.

Ok got it off, had to drill out the clips. I'm a AMD person and don't really know Intels. What is the max temp a Slot PIII 550 can handle before it gets damaged.

i dunno, nor do i wanna find out. www.xoxide.com and www.2cooltek.com both sell slot 1 p3 coolers, as i imagine a few others do.

Heh, even Radio Shack sells 'em (But I wouldn't trust those for more than a Celeron Slot 1 CPU).

I've already have the fan I just would like to know how hot I can get it before it starts to burn up
