PIN on Motherboard

Hi! This is my first time, I hope someone can help me.
I'm using mobo Asus CUSI-FX, and I need to use front panel USB, but the mobo don't have the PIN, but got the PIN's hole. Is that means the PIN broken already? How to repair it?

Hello - welcome to the forums.

Most "standard" USB pinouts have 10 pins, but only 8 of them are actually used. One pin is "missing" to act as a "key" so that you can't plug in the USB wrong - if the USB plug is a 2x5 block. You may want to go to the Asus web site to find the manual for your board to make sure you get the right pinout. It is possible to short out the USB port (and possibly kill the motherboard or your USB device) if the front ports are hooked up wrong.

Huh???? One PIN "missing"? No, its not. Its all "missing" and I can't use the front panel USB. But the mobo's manual book say it can support front panel USB. It also state as OPTIONAL. I don't know what to do, please help me!!!

If the front USB port headers are listed as "optional" and your board only has the solder pads but not the pins themselves, then your board did not come with that option and unfortunately there isn't much to be done about it at this point.

look in your mobo if it had the usb headers usb1 and usb2 if your not using it then this connectors can be used for the front usb ports, check this link

Yes, in that picture got header, but my mobo don't have the header, then i need to soldering i think. Any one of you tried it?

how many usb controller you have in the device manager?

One, that is built-in.

that header is not used so no good soldering it because it dont have a controller, check in the bios if its only disabled

yes, i disable it because no use, but when I enable it, it got 2 USB controller.

you need to find pin connector for that usb header and solder but you need to be careful if the pins get mixed it could fry anything connected to it at least you can test it with a multitester to be sure.
