Like any band some tracks will resonate with you more than others, so to any individual some tracks will rock, some will be so-so, others will suck. PF did some very groundbreaking things with sound, live performance, and lyrics/storyline that other bands only wish they could do. PF is not for those folks who prefer their music to be uptempo all the time of course

That's fine. You don't have to like everything. From a musician's standpoint however, they did things never done before, and their writing style was impeccable. There's a reason they are still listened to after nearly 40 years.

Think about that. Back in 1985, how many kids did you see getting into music from the 1940's? Music from that era didn't translate very well, did it. In that same period of time, Pink Floyd STILL has albums in the top 200 sales lists. Their music is truely timeless, and will be enjoyed 100 years from now (much the same way people still enjoy Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven).

The Doors deal was mixing poetry into music. I personally don't like them, but Jim Morrison's talent was painting imagery with lyrics.

Led Zeppelin is not overrated. NOBODY did what they did with rock music at that time. They invented heavy metal and the "light and shade" composition method so often used to this day. Their first 6 albums are classics. Unfortunately the excess of 70's rockstar living took it's toll, and by around 1975, they were shells of their former selves. Jimmy Page did not fully recover from his various drug/alcohol additions until the late 1990's, which is a shame because of all those years he's wasted.

While I do agree people my age, high schoolers, do say "yo I listen to pink floyd" because it's sort of a fad, I know just as many people that genuinely like their music. Personally, I can't listen to all their all albums first song to last, but I definitely like a lot of their songs.
