Awesome deal "ogn" just the type I was searching for. Just one question , will it allow me to automatically record a TV show, when I want it?

Good luck waiting for your rebate. Anyone still remember about the QPS 24X rebate? It took them half a year to have the check sent...I just got it last month. If you are gonna take the risk, make sure you keep good record, the rebates do come, but it takes some follow up with nasty phone calls to da rebate center.

One thing that's not been mentioned is that Compusa B&M won't honor the $20 instant rebate, they say that it was a printing error and that there is only a $50 rebate which is why I passed it up.

Complete B.S. on CUSA's part.

I got in on the last Pinnacle TV Tuner for $69.99 - $20 instant rebate - $20 MIR. I ended up paying $49.99 for the card. BEWARE OF THIS REBATE IF ITS THE SAME COMPANY AS THE ONE THAT DID THE $20 ONE.

Reason for my invalid rebate was because it was postmarked 12/31/02 when I sent it in before the 10th.

BEWARE - You might end up paying $50 like I did.

you know...I've had a fun fun fun run in with CrapUSA's rebate department in the past, calling out to arizona, new rochelle, and all over the country being bounced back and forth between these idiots each telling me it's not their problem. Well it took about 30 hours of phone calls but in the end I came out with a $50 check instead of the gift card I was supposed to get. Then like another 2 months later the gift card came(by this time it had been 7 months since my original filing). So although it was a royal pain in my ass, I ended up on top, save for the fact that my mother stupidly went for the canon printer that ended up not being worth it even AFTER the $100. BJC-6000 was $249.99-$50 GC-$50Check. *sigh*

I tooollld her to just get the HP and go, nice and EASY. But no, she HAD to drag me through hell to get an inferior printer...*sigh*...and that is why my current printer is a HP Photosmart 1000 =) (not to be confused with my PARENT'S printer which is still the canon ewww). But yes, my printer had the faulty cord that could have killed me. LOL, and HP did send the replacement pretty fast, but I was confused as to why I got an envelope to send them the old ones back, but it didn't have a # for me or anything, just an envelope that's been prepaid. They must be shelling out $1.50 to get back each of these broken cords. No idea why they think this is a good idea, plus half the people probably just ditched the cord anyway. Whatever, I was nice enough to fill out the return addy part just in case they care, and mail it back to them, so they can beat the cord company or something with them.

It is back in stock on their website. Now out of stock again. Guess I just caught it at the right moment. I got the first confirmation email. I hope it ships. I have the rebate form already printed and ready to fill out. Edit: I received the order approval email for shipment. Also and now confident in the $50 rebate. Hope others can get this.

Funny...

Web site says SOLD OUT, but when I check the list of nearby locations, they all say In-Stock.

Just went to a CompUSA B&M, Atlanta, GA. Grabbed one and checked out. $49.99. Grabbed a printed rebate form. $50. If the website is OOS, go to your nearest B&M.

Looks like a winner to me. I'm keeping good documentation on this one though...

FYI, the compusa web site just changed to show a final price of -$0.01!

I'm printing that page as part of the documentation. Now I feel very good about the rebate, and I have no doubt I'll get it.

S13SilviaK,
You may want to try another CompUSA or point them to the website that clearly states what price it's selling for, but glad to hear a few of you are able to get in on this deal...I'm definitely keeping copies of everything.

I have a question though. Does anyone know if the remote receiver will work with Girder? I want to use it as a IR receiver with Girder and use a Pronto to control my Home Theater PC.
I might have to go get another...I haven't used my parents name/address yet.

Side note. On the Compusa website, they list the manufacturer part number as 137TVPRON. *Chuckle Chuckle*

I happen to have 3 of these cards. I think these cards are great, especially at this price. I am using them with winxp, win2k, and even 98. I love these cards because they are bt878 based and have great third party support. I use powervcr 2 with the open source drivers available here. I have no problems at all with these in my 3 machines. I can use any of my favorite programs such as virtual dub, powervcr 2, and dscaler fine with these cards. If you know what you are doing these cards are excellent. The software that comes with these cards sucks and does not even come close to unleashing the true power of these cards.

I couldn't get the remote to work with any program like girder or irvew or some crap like that
I did figure out how to use any button to do anything you want though all about the config file of the actual remote software...just as long as you have which key corresponds to what. throw me an email if you wanna know how.

Great post. Thanks. I'm headed to the B&M to see what they have.

I have an older Pinnacle PCTV card that has been fine. I wish they had PVR software....maybe someday.

Powervcr 2 can be used as PVR software. I use it for that purpose and it works just fine. Not as good as tivo but all i do is record stuff and watch it later.

Has anyone actually called New Rochelle and checked to see if they will honor the $50 for offer #6972 ivs the $20.00 that is advertised by CompUSA? Even though the rebate forms clearly state $50, and you would have a valid claim to a $50 rebate, we are talking about New Rochelle here. They are without a doubt, the worst rebate processing company in existance. The CompUSA rebate programs at New Rochelle are setup by the manufacturer and the forms are printed by CompUSA so technically CompUSA is at fault. Even though CompUSA is a fault and you have a legitimate claim to the $50 rbeate, CompUSA will not pay you in-store the difference between the two amounts if you receive only $20 as advertised. Getting New Rochelle to cough up the other $30 will take a fight that IMO is just not worth the risk.

The reason that I ask is that I was in CompUSA this morning picking up the Magellan 310 GPS $49.88 deal and I noticed that they removed the incorrect rebate forms for the Pinnacle and have the corrected ones with the $20 MIR in their place. Both offers are #6972.

KlineD,

You don't have PM on so I can't get in contact with you, but I am interested. Please PM me with details if that's possible or you can email me at my spam account noman143@yahoo.com and I can reply with my real address. Someone on the AVS forum said that it works with Girder, but just in case I can't get it to work, I would like to know your alternative.

Thanks.
