For those who missed out on the last deal at BB, Circuit City has this software on sale for $39.99.

There is an Instant Rebate of $5 and a $25 Mail-in-Rebate making it $9.99 practically...of course tax not included.

Pinnacle Studio version 7.

Circuit City Weekly ad....then click comp peripherals and accessories. Not available on-line.

Hope this helps!

I'll stick to my Matrox RT2500 real time editing card and Adobe Premiere 6.0 . I could go for the new Matrox RT.X100 though! (Have no clue what I'm talking about??? Go to www.matrox.com and click on "video editing tools for professionals")

Awesome! I did miss out on the BB deal last time, so I'm definitely in on this one. $10 cheaper than last time too!

It would be neat if this could be combined with the recent $25 rebate for purchasing Pinnacle Express + Pinnacle Studio, but it appears each rebate requests the original UPC. Anyone find otherwise?

I love my card, it's solid with my MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU. Had some problems during setup, but now, it can't be crashed (except for Ctrl+Alt+Del...what's up with that anyways?)

Sweet! Just got mine.
...that's good news!

I was able to get on the last BB deal so hopefully people who were left out before can partake of this current deal.

Thanks rdgr8 for the heads up on a good deal

Just picked one up. Price sticker on the box said 99.99 (ouch).
Rang up as 34.99 plus tax. The rebate form is printed at the register.

Been looking for a deal on this SW. Got a Sony mini DV camcorder
for our vacation to Yellowstone. The SW that Sony included has
a user interface from hell (no pull down menus, instead you get
cryptic icons all over the place for different modes, actions. Forget it )

Out of the ~$100 video editing packages, PC Magazine gave Pinnacle Studio 7
the editor's choice.

I got mine during the BB deal, and I have to say this is great for the person who wants to amke a spiffy video fast.

Only bone is that I wish it had better integration with other Pinnacle products, like express.

Thanks for the heads up rdgr8. This is an excellent consumer level product and a great deal.If you want some more ideas on how to use it,search pinnacle for the older thread.I missed out on the last deal but was able to get in on the last one at the store I went to.The CC employee who I talked with also got in on the deal.
Im sure any remaining will go fast so check around if you want a copy.

By the way, those who want to make svcds, vcds or dvds (with a dvd burner) will need Pinnacle Express. Pinnacle Studio is still necessary for the great editing. If anyone comes across Express on sale please put a post up for those of us who need it.And if anyone remembers,a heads up pm would be most appreciated in case I miss the thread

Thanks for the input Orlando Tiger...I'm also looking for the Express version. Compusa had it on sale a month ago for $29.99 but I missed out on that one.

Are the following true?
The Studio Version 7 or Studio DV Version 7 has a lot more editing features than what comes with the Express or the Express DV.
The Express is needed if you want to transfer the movies to VCDs or DVDs.
You can only transfer to tape with the Studio DV.

Are there differences between the Firewire cards that come with the Studio DV and the Express DV?

P.S. Is the $25 rebate from Circuit City?

hkchan,

I own both products. Studio 7 has a vast amount of more editing features than Pinnacle Express. Express has like 2 scene transitions where Studio has several dozen, Studio let's you slow the video down in 10% increments (great for the sports videos I make for my kids), Studio has dozens of title options - fonts- scrolling-etc..., Studio has many more options to add music, mp3's - cd audio, etc... The only thing I use Express for is to set up SVCD menus/backgrounds and burn the SVCD's.

I am not sure about the firewire cards in each product. It would probably be cheaper to buy the software when it is on sale and then pick up a cheap firewire card for $10-$15.

CompUSA has had Pinnacle Express on sale for $19.99 in the past, keep your eyes open. In the mean time you could try the freeware SVCD authoring programs found over at www.vcdhelp.com, as far as I have seen they are not real user friendly, but hey, they're free!

Thanks for the input John P.

It's good to know that a lot of people are getting into this deal.

Now, if I can only find a bargain Pinnacle express so I can burn my videos...anyone knows where to get this baby at a great price?

Is Pinnacle Express the best for transfering to SVCD/VCD/DVD or are there better applications out there for this. If what are they and how much do they cost.

Also I'm told that you can't do FastForwarding on Videos created on VCD. Is this true? If not then how is this achieved.

First of all you probably won't be messing with VCD, just SVCD. The quality of VCD for home movies is crappy.

With my SVCD's created with Pinnacle Express all slow motion and fast forward speeds work great. I played with all the speeds on an Apex 3201 extensively with some of my kids baseball video, especially the slow motion and frame by frame, everything worked perfectly.
