Pioneer DVDs Slots.. Noise levels ?

I'm interested in getting one of these guys but everyone's been sayins that the 10x is like a jet...

Is it really gonna bother me or should I just get the old 6x ones ?

I've got a Pioneer 10X slot load I've had for about a year. It's only a bit loud when it spins up, I don't even notice it much when it is running. It's been one of the best pieces of hardware I ever bought. I heartily recommend it.

I really didn't even like my old 6x one way back when. I really don't like any of the new faster drives, not so much b/c of the noise as it is the spin up time. A nice 12x-16x spins up almost instantly but my 50x takes 3-4 seconds to spin up (and then sounds like it's gonna take off).

got 16x slot pioneer dvd

initial spin sound is noticeable.

after that, comparable to reg cd drive.

Besides, my sparkle ps & case fans makes enough noise that I don't even notice the dvd noise.
