Your best bet is the Infinity Reference.
Both cardomain has the 6.5" for under $60 a pair.

They will sound much better than any Sony or Pioneer you'll find at CC or BB.

Find it cheaper than $60 on the net and email cardomain and they'll match it +5%.
I've done it before and they did match it.

If you're not an audiophile, don't have brand-name penis envy, and just want something better than stock speakers without putting a ton of money into the project, Radio Shack used to (and probably still does) sell some reasonably priced speakers under the Tandy name. Didn't have the build quality of much more expensive speakers, but they have huge ass magnets and sound pretty decent for the money (at least to my non-audiophile ears they did).

I don't see a single one in this thread, much less 9348

I spent about $160-$180 on four Kenwood 3-way speakers a few years back... man those things rocked.

I have some Infinity Reference 5"x7" full range speakers hooked up to the stock amp in my Taurus. They are severely underpowered, but the mids/highs are nice and clear - and my infinity basslink (10" enclosed sub) really rounds out the spectrum with some nice low end.

Another vote for Infinity Reference. They are a little hot on the treble, but they sound great.
I have a pair of Infinity Reference 5 1/4" in the doors of my Dakota driven by a Blaupunkt Casablanca.

Oh, and my other car has a factory Infinity system.

I was going to suggest Kenwood, glad to see someone else did too.

i just picked up 4 pioneer 6 1/2 3 ways and they sound pretty respectable for entry level speakers. my only problem is my door panel and the side molding vibrate, but im waiting for paint before i lay down sound dampening(i found this material that is almost exactly the same as b-quiet but a lot cheaper so i can do the door panel, frame, and the rest of the interior at once). btw i was going to go with some nicer components but i got these brand new from bb for 75 (for all four) after my friends employee discount. with what i saved ill be able to get my hu in a week and still have decent sound.

WTF!! You can't quote yourself!! But I agree. The OP should go and listen for himself.
