I've had pioneer equipment in the past and this one looks decent for the price.

I got it on the Newegg sale. It's decent. It's not as heavy as my old Marantz 5002, but it supports Pandora (not slacker or any other though) and has worked well for me so far.

ps3 -> this receiver -> projector. all with HDMI cables.
will the receiver process the 5.1 sound from ps3 and then output just the image to projector?

I don't see why it wouldn't. My receiver is setup to send the video only to the tv, and keep the sound to be processed in it and sent to the speakers attached to it.

As long as your speaker config is supported by it (it should be unless it uses pre-outs like Logitech Z5500's or something) anyways.

Just picked this up today for the airplay and bluetooth streaming. Hoping it works out out, but for $250, I should be able to sell it on craigslist and recover my expense if I don't like it.

FWIW, I have the VSX-1021K connected to my home network via ethernet and it handles just about everything I throw at it with ease (except video, of course). Streams Plex as well. Add Bluetooth to the mix and that's a lot of receiver for that price.

Good to hear! I didn't know that the receiver worked w/ Plex, I've slowly been working to get my Plex server up and running the way I want it

Unless you need the 7.1 I'd go with the Denon 1613 from accessories4less for the same money as long as you can deal with a refurb. It's a much better receiver, just has fewer HDMI inputs.

I am done with Denon. After two straight receivers with blown HDMI circuits, I just can't live with poor quality anymore. Great receivers, just don't last very long.

Seems like a nice deal on a good A/V Receiver, comparable to my Onkyo.

That said, my Onkyo does everything I need and was the final missing piece in my living room home theater system. If I hadn't already gotten it, though, I'd be hard-pressed to pass up this Pioneer (I have my old Pioneer A/V receiver here in the computer room right now).
