I swear there is no good BitTorrent clients. They always end up taking all my resources if I leave them on for too long. Soo annoying.

Your computer must not have many resources then. I just left Azureus on all night to download a couple TV shows and my computer is still fine.

Yes, they tend to use a lot of resources when you're downloading files that are multiple gigabytes. Azureus slows down my computer enough that most new games can't be played smoothly.

Must have a crappy computer. I've had Azureus left on for well over a month without shutting it down except to do updates, and never have any problems. Also try the original BT client... it requires some command line editing, but it's small.

Well, it's a AXP 3200+, 512MB, A7N8X-E, so it's most likely not a crappy computer (i don't know, what's considered a good computer these days?), but maybe lacking in the RAM department for the big download jobs?

Azureus and most Bt clients use a lot of resources no matter WHAT kind of computer you have. Huge number of threads open when you have a bunch of downloads going. I have a 3200+ with a gig of ram and although the machine runs perfectly fine with azureus, I can't exactly load up far cry with it running.

Odd, I've run BitSpirit for weeks at a time, and I've played many a demanding game with it running. Doesn't seem to hurt my performance in a serious manner.

Azureus liked to eat up 450+ MB of ram and 99% cpu on my system so I switched to ABC. Works great. Not as many features, but it's still good.

I use bittornado on multiple machines and it never causes any resource problems, it's python so it's not like it's as bad as java. But I'm running it on Linux, maybe the Windows port of python sucks or something.

never ANY problems using ABC, have MANY probs with azureus. I know many use azureus, but i always have crappy speeds with it and it uses a lot of resources. Just try ABC.

Azureus only eats up RAM for me, not CPU.

And for those with crappy speeds, try checking port forwarding....

Azureus works fine for me. Doom3, FarCry, HL2 at good quality levels without hiccups. Only effective way for me to stuff up performance is by running Seti@home. ABC is faster, but last I checked they've frozen development and it's got annoying queueing bugs/crashes that can wipe out entire downloads. :|

No problems here loading up games. I've played Doom3, Farcry, and even Everquest2 with it in the background just fine.

I had to throttle the upload bandwidth in azureus. Otherwise my internet connection was crawling, and even my download speed was suffering. Don't have performance problems though. Played farcry and half life 2 with it up on many an occasion. Doom 3 once in a while too.
