They are basically saying it is OK to climb into the stands and fight with fans. Because it was in the "heat of the moment" and the players had "lots of frustration that had built up during the game."

OK, the Pacers were up by 15 and there was less than 1 minute to go in the game.

Unbelievable.
Agreed. Thought at first, I thought the same way, thinking it was all the fans' fault But after watching the replays and watching the whole incident over again, I can't believe they're trying to totally excuse the players' actions and responsibility for the whole thing.

But at the same time, as a professional athlete you can't act like this. You can't. You can't climb into the stands and fight with fans.

You're totally rigth. I was saying earlier...alcohol, tempers...passion...horrible mix.

I do take exception to you saying that all fans would've done the same thing. If you have been following basketball as long as I have (as a religion pretty much) there was an incident about 15-20 years ago where Vernon Maxwell charged a fan and hit him in the face in the stands when he was playing for Houston. There was NO melee that ensued. Nothing. Zero. People broke it up...Vernon was suspended for 7 games if I remember. I'm not indicting Detroit fans, just telling the facts.

Ben Wallace is such a little pussy.
He wasn't even fouled that hard.
What an asshat. He's so big yet he acts so little.

It's like a defense attorney. It's their job...fortunately or unfortunately depending on your perspective.

I agreed it wasn't that hard of a foul, but the timing of the foul was the issue. The game was already over.

It was more the fact that the game was already decided and Artest put a little extra into the foul. He gave him a little extra at the end of the play.

Wallace probably felt that Artest was out of line with how he fouled him. I am not saying Wallace should have reacted the way he did, but I can certainly justify that more than I can Artest's climbing into the stands.

It wasn't just the foul but the timing of the foul. The game was pretty much over. It was probably an unnecessary foul in Wallace's eyes. I didn't watch the rest of game, so I'm not sure if anything precipitated that.

Detroit has a lovely history of having bloody rivalries with other teams. The Red Wings and the Avalanche games are always brutal. Pistons/Pacers began a new era tonight.

come on Isekii....that foul was completely uncalled for - it should have been a flagrant, he should have been ejected just for that, and suspended for a game - that isn't basketball.

Wallace is a pussy? He might be the last guy in the NBA other than Shaq that you could say that about.

wow, JUST WOW

the NBA is now just a bunch of thugs who think they are hot sh!t when they go 8 for 24 from the field with 6 turnovers

I know beggars can't be choosers, but does anybody have the whole clip while it was happening live? I want to hear the announcers, etc.

Thanks for the clip schlong!

Wallace did recently go to his brother's funeral so I'm sure he was on a short fuse. That crap has happened before late in a blowout without such an incident. Really security didn't do there job are let this thing escalate. They are partly to blame also

They were all pussies... and just to be fair... EVERYONE involved in that incident should be punished. EVERYONE.

I cant believe none of you are putting any accountability on the fans... some guy threw a chair, others threw beers, one guy came on the court and threatened artest... I'm sure there will be suspensions, but I hope they press charges on those chumps that felt they needed to be a part of the game.

Yeah seriously. But those are mostly between opposing teams fans. Players rarely get into it (except the Cantona incident)

There definitely were a few fans who deserve to be punished as well. There's plenty of blame to go around to everyone.
