i was at the game, and for such a boring game, the ending sure was exciting. few stupid fans got out of hand, and cooler head would've prevailed, but when you throw in artest to the equation, you know that's not gonna happen. yes i am a stones fan but don't let that discredit me.
granted, if i got hit w/ a beer, i'd be pissed too. but would i go in a mad rush, choke hold someone demaning to know if he threw the beer? (and according ot the interview of the local radio station, that's exactly what artest did.) then there's the other idiot that was by that guy, the one that blasted artest w/ another cup of beer, prompting s. jackson to fly in to deck the guy. btw, i think the original offender was the guy that was pulling artest off, only to sucker punch him from behind. yes fan was at fault for throwing the beer, but artest also could've just shrugged it off and just walked into the locker room. instead he made the choice to go after someone in the general direction. so everyone involved is at fault.
here's my thought: a player has no right going into the stands. and the fans reacted the way they did because they saw one or few of the other fans being attacked. and they saw, one, then two, then more people throwing whatever they had at the opposing players. it's a mob mentality it'd happen anywhere given the situation. and add artest to the mix, and you know it's only gonna get worse.
as for the two "poor" idiots on the floor that got decked, esp by j o'neal's sliding right hook, had no business being there in the first place. altho they'd prolly sue and get some compensation for their stupidity. (good ole usa..) everyone involved lost their cool and just went off. about the only person that didnt' do anything was tayshawn prince, who was the ONLY player to remain on the bench during hte brawl.
i can't wait for the x-mas game, and i can't wait to goto the march home game vs indy. not to mention the playoffs. yes it gave another black eye for the city of detroit, yes we are the STD capital of NA. blah blah.. just add tonight to the growing list. and as bad as tonight's incident was, i was glad i was there to witness the mayhem first hand, crazy.. and at least we didn't throw batteries like some other disgruntled fans.
