You should go visit Baltimore sometime.
unfortunately for detroit, this year, they are the STD capital add that to the fattest city in America. and here's another interesting quote from that article: In September, Rick Reilly of Sports Illustrated called Detroiters a bunch of heat-packing rowdies who "warm their hands around cop car fires." i'm sure we'll get more elaborate lables now.. *sigh*

i really don't know if i should be proud or sad..

ben wallace SHOVES ARTEST IN THE FACE and he walks a way and lies down on a table relaxing like he's on the beach.
small, scrawny, white fan throws a beer at him and he EXPLODES IN RAGE and MAULS the person he THOUGHT was him (most likely because the person he chose to attack was smaller than the real perp).

Solution: Stop serving beer at Piston's games. Sadly, they cannot handle their alcohol.

Ben Wallace is responsible for everything escalating. He wouldn't let it go and got all the fans riled up as a result. They guy has a couple screws loose.

Artest is one of the main reasons for this.

I'll agree the foul wasn't too hard, but it was still a push to this upper back in the air. The game was very emotionaly charged and Ron Artest has a track record of making fouls like that. Even if it wasn't a hard fould, Ben Wallace was pissed and shoved Artest from the neck.

Now most of you guys praised Artest for not fighting back which was admirable, but Ben Wallace was steaming mad and still coming after him.

Then the fans throws the beer at him, and Rons flips out.

Now let me get this straight, Theres a 6'9 beast in Wallace wanting to beat your ass, but you can restrain yourself and when some punk ass fan throws a beer, Artest suddently can't restrain himself??????

Ben Wallace was a much bigger threat to Ron's security than the guy who threw the beer. Ron only went after the fan because he know he can't go face to face with Wallace cause he knows he'll get his ass kicked. Then he jumps into the crowd and attacks some scrawny white boy.

Artest was looking for a fight plain and simple. If he had the restraint to hold him self against Ben Wallace, he should have the restraint to hold himself against some retarded fan.

Also note that the fan he went after wasn't even the guy that threw the cup.

If Artest hadn't defended himself, more drunken fans would have followed suit and threw their beverage. Artest is a "stand up" guy.

Ben Wallace has a couple screws loose???????

Do you even know who Ron Artest is???????

Ben Wallace just had his brother die a week ago, so yeah he might be a little charge up and Ron Artest meant more with that foul. If you watch basketball and teh NBA, you;ll know who Ron Artest was and what that foul meant.

It wasn't hard but the principle of it, Ron Artest was making that foul to unnecessarily.

LOOK AT THE REPLAYS - RON Fouls ben across the arm with his left arm. Then he unnecessarily bring his right hand to push Ben Wallace to the neck. THAT IS WHY BEN WAS PISSED. Its one thing to foul him, Pushing someone in the air especially in a already decided game is uncalled for.

Most players will react if they felt they were purposely pushed in the air, no matter how hard it was. If you do look at the replays Ben Wallace's upper torso moves a great deal. If you know Ron Artest the push was intentional.

Bottom Line: If you push someone in the air in a time where its not necessary, no matter how hard, the player will overreact, pushing people in the air is how people get hurt. That foul was unnecessarily over the top.

Takes real guts to stand up to a guy half your size, who wasn't even the guy that threw the cup. Had Artest not run up into the stands like that, the person who threw that cup would have been dealt with accordingly.

I was damn glad to see every single sorry Detroit fan get his ass beat when they went up toe-to-toe with a Pacer player. Every single one got their ass handed to them. I find myself watching the Stephen Jackson clothesline punch and the Jermaine Oneal sliding hook over and over again. Classic.

This was one of the most awesome things evar to occur in pro sports. I love it, I can't wait to see what the nba has to say about detroit fans and how much of a head case artest is. Jermaine oneal's punch was awesome.

Just because you're submitted to verbal taunting every day of your life and then eventually personal affliction doesn't mean that you have a couple screws loose. Just because you have a quick temper doesn't mean you have a couple screws loose. I really can't understand you people when you say that Artest is crazy. Yes the professional thing to do would have been to stay on the court, but he's a human being after all. You can't fault a guy for wanting to protect himself and not just sit there and take abuse.

this was brought up once and ignored

How is this different then the Milton Bradly incident at the end of the baseball season

a fan threw a bottle of beer at milton, he walked over to the stands and demanded to know who through it...then he through the bottle in disgust at an EMPTY seat in the stands

EVERYONE thought Milton overreacted and he got suspended for a couple games.

how can people say that was his fault, but that Artest didnt overreact and was just defending himself?

in no way was this self defence
