Pits are fine dogs, but the capacity for them to severely injure/kill someone is high enough that they shouldn't be given to anyone who wants one. They should be licensed, like firearms. Potential owners should be given a test (proper feeding/training/shelter/health Q&A), and cities and municipalities should be free to ban them if the voters support such measures.

In all cases, the responsibility of the owner is paramount, as with any animal, it must be properly cared for. Even more tragic than the hundreds(?) of people injured by dogs each year are the hundreds of thousands of animals that are neglected and abused every day.

LOL, WHAT!!!?

They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig."

i think you just want to hear someone say it.
how hard is it to look up the word sodomize if you don't understand it?

http://www.answers.com/sodomize&r=67

It's not just that hole. From here

"The most widely used definition of sodomy is any form of oral sex (where a person?s mouth comes into contact with the genitals or anus of another person) and/or anal intercourse."

what do you mean "not just that hole". the link i provided said among other things: "practice anal sex upon". i'm thinking that is what the dog did?

I was just pointing out that your link does not have any mention of oral. I am having a hard time figuring out the physics of a dog running away with a child somehow "attached" at either hole and the child not being able to get away.

I guess you don't understand what happens when a male dog mates. The head of his member engorges, attaching itself to the female. You've never seen two dogs stuck together mating?

yeap i was going to post that. they have a "knob" that keeps the dog in while mateing.

yes but the bitches vagina is designed for that. a boys anus is not which i think happend is that the dog bit the boys penis then mom came in and the dog carried him out by his penis.

was the 2 year old running around naked and dog got horny and mounted him

or

was boy teasing dog by flapping his penis in dogs face and dog thinks "ok lets play!!" and bit boys penis...

it seems that either way a two year old was left alone and naked or at least bottomless with a dog.

Where is the proof of what you said? Since when are pitbulls warm and cuddly pets? I hope that was sarcasm because pitbulls are ticking time bombs.

Yeah, sure its nice, until it gets out without a leash and tears people/pets up. There is a guy who runs with his pit bull, and he claims its the nicest dog ever. Doesn't change the fact it tried to eat my wife and our small dogs once when she was outside.

FWIW I think they should all be sent to an incinerator.
I'll be honest, I care more about my pets than I do about you or your family.

Wow. Amazing.

whats so amazing about it. many consider pets a part of the family. he knows and loves the dog. he does not know you or love you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the article never stated the kid was mauled or anything. Young dogs are horny and they hump shit like CRAZY... this is just a case of a horny dog and an unlucky child. Why the fuck is everyone attacking pit bulls because of this?

I hope a decent family picks up the dog.

I hate this media bullshit. Pitbull did this, Rotweiller did that.

The most horrifying example of the lack of breed predictability is the October 2000 death of a 6-week-old baby, which was killed by her family's Pomeranian dog. The average weight of a Pomeranian is about 4 pounds, and they are not thought of as a dangerous breed. Note, however, that they were bred to be watchdogs! The baby's uncle left the infant and the dog on a bed while the uncle prepared her bottle in the kitchen. Upon his return, the dog was mauling the baby, who died shortly afterwards. ("Baby Girl Killed by Family Dog," Los Angeles Times, Monday, October 9, 2000, Home Edition, Metro Section, Page B-5.)

* Any dog, treated harshly or trained to attack, may bite a person. Any dog can be turned into a dangerous dog. The owner or handler most often is responsible for making a dog into something dangerous.

* An irresponsible owner or dog handler might create a situation that places another person in danger by a dog, without the dog itself being dangerous, as in the case of the Pomeranian that killed the infant (see above).

* Any individual dog may be a good, loving pet, even though its breed is considered to be potentially dangerous. A responsible owner can win the love and respect of a dog, no matter its breed. One cannot look at an individual dog, recognize its breed, and then state whether or not it is going to attack.

Like what has always been said over and over again, it's the owner's fault, not the dog.

I would be amazed if the dog isn't destroyed. The liability risk it creates is on the level of making plutonium-enriched Huggies.

some dogs can't be domesticated.

Edited

You guys are really fucking stupid and are prejudice and clueless to the truth. I have a red nose pitbull who is the most affectionate, loving dog in the world. She listens to my commands, plays with children, has never even opened its mouth to somebody and just enjoys the attention of any human being that she sees. These abused dogs who attack people are just that; abused, untrained, and neglected dogs. Put any dog in that type of situation and I guarentee it attacks, pitbulls are just more publicized because they are stronger of most of the dogs (German Shepards I believe are actaully #1 in attacks in the country that result in serious injury/death)

Just wait 'till that beast eats the children and you.

I miss where its shown that all dogs at one time or another don't try to hump everything alive, and for that matter all stuffed animals as well.

The fact that a pitbull actually penetrated a child has little to do with the breed, and perhaps a bit to do with high intellect, since one of my dogs is usually only smart enough to try getting off with the stuffed animals.

They could have fixed their dog, muchless not been so negligent in supervising their young child...not to mention putting some dang pants on him for a change.

What exactly does this being a pit bull have to do with anything? Dogs hump. That's what they do. I'm sure kids have been humped by golden retrievers before too, you just don't hear about because the goldens don't make for sensational headlines. Off the top of my head I've had a black lab, an English bulldog, and a pug hump my leg too. Maybe instead of blaming a dog for what it does naturally, you should blame a mother who leaves her two year old lying where a dog can get to it.

i said that early in the thread. everyone would rather bitch about the bread.

That doesn't sound very good from the extremely vague details given in the story.

Poor kid.

This is going to sound like an awful question, but how large is a pit bull's penis? Large enough that the thrusting would definitely cause internal injury to a 2-year-old?

the penis is not large to say. but it has a "bulb" that enlarges and i am sure that is what caused the damage.

yeah...ever seen wolves mate? Trials of Life--David Attenborough....ouch!
