I dunno. I dont hit 3gig either. I only get 2.83. I have corsair xms 3200 mem too so ram shoudlnt be limiting me. I'm not sure what ppl are getting for OCs on the 2.53s.

Well this is a good question... being an electrician as I am, you are going to experience some voltage drops. This depends on what your power supply has plugged into it. ie; multipal fans etc. When you set your cpu to a such voltage, you must factor in a small voltage drop. Also, you have to determine how accurate your readings are. A good power supply will have voltage drops but, it will stay consistant and, thats what we are looking for. Stability.

well i am not sure how much of a fluctuation is considered okay. But i think it seems pretty "stable" voltage-wise in either the idle or under load stage, it's just the difference between the idle and loaded voltages that seem quite off, from what ppl are saying. I hope it is ok...but i dunno.

And, there aint no way u gonna beat my oc with ur cheap samsung 2700 ram, juicy.... hahahahah

Big8oy,you have a good PS so I can't understand whats going on with both you guys power supplys.Does your have the square 4 pin P4 plug, not the flat 4 pin molex?.I am going to PM Mikki and see what his P4B533 E board voltages are.

Yeah i do have the 4 pin connector and it is plugged in. So i dunno. I would hope that the ps is good, cuz i dont wanna go through the hassle of returning it.

Ooops! I just checked my bios and I thought I had it set for a Vcore of 1.65V but i was wrong it is actually set at a vcore of 1.6V only!! Ooops. So are my vcore setttings ok then, even though there is a big jump from idle and loaded?

Ok... I'm confused... what does FSB mean? sorry, i'm a n00b at overclocking... Also, what is this about the 1.75v??? voltage??? the higher, the worse???

could you guys clarify?

Also, does it matter if i have Crucial PC2100 (256mb x2 = 512mb) instead of the Pc2700? will this drastically affect the OC if i don't have the PC2700???

Please help a n00b out.

Wayne

Ok Here goes FSB means "Front side Bus" <-------------a BIOS (basic input/output system) configuration. Your manual will have most of these terms in it. As for the voltage or vcore, its the voltage to your CPU ( central processing unit). If you push higher than 1.75v than your just buying time before your CPU takes a crap! Just a mental note...

No way it's at 158. Can't even post at 158. Only at 149. There is no way u can achieve my OC. Hahahaha I dunno. We'll see. I am at 3:4, so no matter what wont be faster than me since i'm at 396ddr right now.

Yeah it's that time for the new systems to start popping up again. That's what i did! Too bad not that great of an oc. Maybe as others try the 2.53 they can see what they get. Maybe mine chip just not good ocer. Oh well.

WayneTek,your not installing windows with your system overclocked are you?.

JuicyFruit, set you memory at lowest timings 2.5/3/3/7 add .025-.050 voltage 1.525V-1.550V to make it stable. You shouldn't need to add vdimm voltage yet, keep it at 2.6 for now.Keep going on the FSB until not stable and add .025 voltage.Don't take big jumps in FSB,3-4 at a time should be good.Your at 2850ghz now.If its stable at 150FSB at default voltage than I think you can hit 3ghz stable.Just run prime for 15 minutes each step for now.

WayneTek,you might have to reformat with all at default settings. You may have corrupted the windows installation. If you installed windows overclocked and then tried going back to default to load windows that might not work cause the operating system is already corrupted. Not guaranteed thats whats happenning but overclocking and installing OS at the same time is badd news.

Just for jeez whiz, I've formatted/parted/installed and configed Windows about a dozen times with my sys oc'ed and I've never had a problem. I'm not saying that you guys shouldn't think about that, I'm just saying it hasn't affected anything on mine. My opinion is that if you have problems with that, then your system isn't as stable as you think it is....

Just my three cents...
