The Huawei Mate 10 Pro (very comparable to the Pixel 2 XL) is on sale today on amazon for prime day for $500. Seems like a very good deal

My friend is a big time android fanboy, and always talk about how his Pixel 2 is way better than Samsung Note 8. He talks about Samsung being slow unless you root it. He also says that the Pixel gets latest android updates and stuff which keeps it on top. Doesn't really admire the Note 8 camera either

What do ya guys think? What are someways in which the Note 8 is better than the Pixel?
The problem with fanboys is that they regurgitate false facts over and over with no proof. Either way both phones are past their prime and there are better phones out there. Why should you care what he said?

LOL! "Just delete it!" will make for an awesome marketing campaign.

"You don't need those memories anyway! But hey don't worry if you do... just cough up FIVE TIMES THE GOING RATE for a measly 64GB more!"

See, to me the irony of this bizarre argument is that it's over two FLAGSHIP phones, not some $300 discount phone.

It's exactly the kind of worthless compromise where a $800/$1000+ top of the line flagship device shouldn't even be mentionable.

The ONLY reason any are, are not technical limits of 2018 (or hell, 2014) or any benefit to the consumer or the device. It's simply an artificial limitation of greed.

A $300 phone can get away with catering to the lowest common denominator of user. So "most people don't use the camera....!" or whatever arguments may fly.

But any phone worthy of being called a flagship (with a price tag to match) should not be defined by lowest common denominator excuses.

Is it really that hard to back up photos? I set photos to autobackup when I'm on wifi. Even then I've never had to delete photos off of my phones, I think I'd have to keep the same phone for like 3-4 years to fill it with photos. If you really need that much storage then the note 8 would be better to go for, personally I started buying phones that fit my purposes instead of buying phones that check off every feature I think I want. Anyways the Note 8 is a great phone, the stuff your friend was saying isn't really true so I'd just go for whichever one you want. The Pixel 2 is a great phone too despite people trashing on here, haven't had any major problems with mine so far and I got it at launch.

Keep in mind its not just photos and personal videos. It's game data, music, movies and anything else people want on their devices.

By the attitude of who needs storage, no drive, USB stick, laptop or gizmo should have greater than 64GB with an option to be gouged for more.

I don't see where that would have flown a decade ago, let alone now. It's 2018 not 2003.

No I wasn't implying that no computer should have expandable storage, merely that if he doesn't need it on his phone then he shouldn't rule the pixel out. I realized I didn't need it on my phones, I didn't force myself to change my usage or anything I just noticed on phone after phone that when I'd move to my new one I was barely using anything storage, when I used to buy phones with a SD card it was basically used to move my photos and music to my new phone. At home I use way more storage since I game on my PC so I wouldn't want that situation, if my usage changed for my phone I'd go back to buying phones with expandable storage.

It really comes down to the S-pen and some of the extra features of Touchwiz. (Samsung Pay among them) And price - Samsung phones can generally be had for lower prices than MSRP. Google apparently does not care much about the hardware sales and Pixel price remains the same as the introductory one, which is rather a hefty sum if you want to get an unlocked version directly from Google. Usually Google does a fire sale of sort right before a new Pixel launch, though.
