Set sale for fale.
Overpriced phone with no headphone jack or wireless charging. Good luck with that. iOS fans have no choice, but Android is a competitive market. Samsung has it stitched up and for a good reason. Hardware is top notch, head and shoulders above everyone else. Even Apple can't offer design like the $650 S8 for under $1000.

Cleaned up as it is, I still don't like TouchWiz.

I'll take the more "barebones" Google Android and add the functionality I want.

And the ability to easily unlock and ROM when the time comes. Like I said, this phone will be with me for three to four years.

Doesn't help when you can't add the features you want. I still use Samsung's one hand mode that shrinks the screen size to reach the corners with one thumb. I never found a way to replace that on the 6p

I can do it right now on my N5 with the Lineage-based Nougat ROM it's running. A quick Google search reveals there are also Xposed modules for this, but I don't know how well they work. And while I can't speak to your personal reasoning, the fact that the keyboard alone is capable of doing this is enough for me and my usage. Otherwise, the task would require two hands anyway, and I'm not buying the XL version so I can not use all of the screen.

It's understandable if you don't want to be bothered putting a ROM on your phone, but it is achievable. Pretty much any OEM feature worth having can be put on a Google phone if you're willing to go the ROM route. I didn't on my N5 until the security updates ended.

I also forgot to add that Samsung's current fingerprint scanner placement is the single dumbest thing I have seen on a phone in the last couple years.

I usually like it when using Google music, because the menu button is on the top left. Completely unreachable by my right thumb. The one handed mode gesture brings it within reach and I can continue using the app quicky.

I was never able to find anything for the 6p that didn't also disable something else I wanted, usually Android pay. There was a constant back and forth between versions of workarounds to get Android pay working with Xposed, but in the end it always got locked and I couldn't use Android pay for long. It wasn't worth the risk of getting locked out of Android pay so I stopped trying. I just want a phone that has everything I want by default and I don't have to screw around with roms to get there. Vanilla Android still isn't there, but Samsung is. It's a great feeling to have everything just work without something else breaking

Android Pay works for me. LineageOS passes SafetyNet and does not come pre-rooted. I am rooted and passing SafetyNet with Magisk right now. Although if the ROM OTA's didn't require root to auto-install, I wouldn't be rooted at all right now.

And the upper left menu button in Play Music is not the only way to open it. It's a slide-out menu. You just need to be able to reach the left edge of the screen. Any app that does not slide it out is implementing the side menu wrong. I don't know if that would allow you to use the app without the need to shrink the screen, but there it is.

You are correct that there is a cat and mouse going on right now between SafetyNet and rooted users, and I get that frustration.

Your use cases are your own, and it's perfectly fine that Samsung satisfies them while "stock" doesn't. I'm not trying to change your mind about stock or Touchwiz. I'm just rebutting the scenario you provided.

I am excited! The Note 8 is beautiful but too pricey, and the iPhone X is ugly and too pricey. Help me Pixel 2, you are my only hope!

It's pretty obvious the mSD slot is not coming back to Google phones. Frankly ever since phones started offering 64GB+ internal storage capacities I haven't needed extra storage. Obviously that's my own use case, but I think it applies to the majority of people as well.

For me it is not about the amount of space but rather certain data sets that I want disjoint from the phone.

Agreed. Nothing beats popping out your SD card with you music and movies and putting in in another device. I do this all the time.

I can't wait for the day that unlimited data at a reasonable price becomes a thing.

I've been waiting for this one since I could not get a pixel last year. They hopefully will not have stock problems this time. It's either this or the iPhone X for me although I'd prefer Android more as I'm so used to it.

Can't remember the last time I used an iPhone but sometimes I change it up. Hopefully when pixel 2 is revealed I'll just end up liking it more and ordering one.

Never was a fan of the Samsung ui and I've had pretty much all the HTC's all the way down to the incredible 2. Then I tried Nexus phones and enjoyed them a lot more. My 6p is old now but I'll be handing it down.

I'd not be too surprised if its a similar "Too pricey" price although it might hit your other buttons.

They said this year's pixel 2 will be more expensive so I think around $900. Pixel 128gb cost about that much with taxes. Lots of news around it also mentioned it will be more.

Since i'd only recently purchased the Nexus 6P, i was not too keen to "looking out" for a new phone when the pixel released. But since the 6p is now giving me horrendous battery issues, i'm forced into searching for a new option. My search by default ended up on the next pixel since i could not stand the design aspect of the S8 finger print scanner being so close to its camera lens. But i just needed another phone to compare the Pixel 2 with and the LG V30 seems to be the answer.

It's almost like it's swept under the carpet considering the marketing for all the other flagships. The V30 has almost everything i'm looking for except dual stereo speakers. Just waiting for the pixel 2 release now so that i can compare them and make my choice. What do you guys think of the V30 btw? Don't see too much talk about it in the mobile thread, hence the question.

The V30 makes me optimistic about the Pixel 2 XL. LG's software has always been a mess to me, I'd rather go Touchwiz than whatever LG calls their software.

The V30 looks nice, but LG needs a couple solid releases to recover from the bootloop issues they've been having.

V30 is a nice phone but I hate their UI even with the improvements based on the past. I believe the pixel 2 xl may have dual front speakers. My 6p has been also experiencing battery issues even on Oreo.

Google was doing rma's even for out of warranty 6p's and giving people pixels as replacements if you bought it originally from the Google store.

But some articles went out about this people heard about it and everyone starting calling in for rma. They stopped giving them out now to people that don't have the protection plan if you are out of warranty.

Without having it studied it too hard, I think the V30 will be the second solid phone they've released since the bootloop issues. I haven't heard anything negative about the G6 in regards to this, and I have similarly not heard anything negative about the V30.

Could be just because everyone's avoiding them right now, though.

Ahh ok, I didn't know the LG software was messy. From the couple of reviews I saw on youtube, they mentioned the software to be more streamlined than the previous versions. And yes, I agree touchwiz is much better when it comes to software since I've already used the Galaxy S2 before. Seems to be a long while back.

Ohh, they had bootloop issues? You mean constant phone restarting? Hmm that will be a deal breaker if I ever do decide to get this.

I would love the Pixel 2 to have dual speakers, a headphone jack and good battery. That's all I want. I don't care about waterproofing or bezel-less display or anything. We've jumped leaps and bounds technology wise but battery performance still seems to be the issue on every phone ever. How much longer till we can hope for a phone that can last a day on full phone usage?

My Nexus 6P is so bad that even on standby it drops a good 10 percent in half an hour. That is simply appalling considering it is the best phone I've used till date and used to give me excellent battery in the initial months.

I hope the pixel 2 has stereo speakers too. I'd like to have water resistance, I mean they are competing with flagship pricing now so it should have all those features and maybe on or two other extras.

Since I put on Oreo this weekend my battery dropped from 100% this morning to 85 after like 30 min of usage. Initially battery was fine but it went down hill and I exchanged the 6p through Google. It was fine but it's been a year now since then and this marks me having the phone for 2 years at this point.

I've also noticed it's got some hiccups that I have not noticed before. I'm sure a full wipe would help but with me about to make a new phone purchase soon, I figured no point in wiping it now.
