Pixel 2 Xl looks like 64gb will be $849 and 128gb will be $949..called it. With tax will be around 1k similar as the iPhone X pricing.

http://www.droid-life.com/2017/09/19/google-pixel-2-xl-exclusive/

Well, that still means it'll be less expensive than an iPhone X, but if people were expecting the Pixel 2 XL to be a Nexus 6 redux, they have another thing coming. As it stands, DL has also revealed that the regular Pixel 2 will cost $649 for 64GB and $749 for 128GB, so if the XL is too rich for your blood...

Yea we still have yet to see what it looks like from the front. But based on all the leaks, I have some idea..it will not be full screen borderless, close to what iPhone X has but with some bezel on the bottom.

This, to me, is the most boring smartphone this year, followed by the LGV30.

Every smart phone is boring now a days. They all do the same crap. Google was never known for their design and innovation in the looks department.

Speak for yourself, I think the s8 look and feel great. I mean you won't know how it feels if you don't have one, but I haven't been impressed with a phone like this in a few generations.

I would need to go see it in store as well as the iPhone X. I just don't like how they put the finger reader so up high near the camera..or am I thinking of something else?

There has to be a point where i stop caring about the latest stuff since pretty much any mobile device you can get now does what you need it to do.

Yeah, that fingerprint sensor placement is a deal-breaker on an otherwise stunning design. For me. Millions of people don't seem to mind. But I would hate it, because I would smudge the camera constantly.

As far as the front of the XL goes, I am putting faith in the AP render; they were pretty spot-on last year. Which means minimal bezels on top and bottom, and something very close to if not an actual left-right edge-to-edge screen. The regular Pixel is still rumors, but those are pointing to a redux of last year.

The price hike has me a bit sad, but I am hoping that they at least bring in all the missing flagship features. It's still my most compelling phone of 2017.

The renders I have seen all showed very little bezel on the sides and very small amount of bezel on the top and bottom.

I too hope it has some of the other flagship features. The odd thing is I actually don't mind the iPhone x design either. But I'll probably end up with the pixel 2 xl anyway.

Do you want the fingerprint sensor on the front? For me, it's perfect. I always have a case on my phones, so the placement of the fingerprint is perfectly placed where I hold the phone and a case acts like a guide for my fingers.

The location of the fingerprint sensor placed so close to the camera, scratch-magnet mirror finishing and Bixby is retarded, and I'm speaking as an S8+ owner. People who don't care about OLED and paper spec performance shouldn't be looking at Samsung at all.

I only got it for $150 because of employer discount. I wouldn't buy this at all if it was anywhere near MSRP.

Fugly as it can get. Plus this:

Here's the bad news. The source of these renders says the Pixel 2 XL will cost $849 with 64GB of storage, and $949 if you want 128GB. Those are the only storage options that you'll get. The starting price is $80 north of what Google was charging for the Pixel XL from last year, but you do get twice the storage (2016's handset had 32GB). There's no such added bonus for the 128GB iteration - in this case it's a straight-up $80 price hike.

Samsung phones this year seem like a bargain.

I didn't like the design of the current pixels at all. So much wasted space with those bezels. At least these ones reduced some of that. I also didn't like how the fingerprint reader was inside that glass top portion. At least with pixel 2 xl has similar looks to the 6p which I think looks fine.

Will this have wireless charging?

Not sure, the leaks never revealed this yet. Some sites would say it will others didn't mention anything. It all depends if the back is metallic or a plastic with a painted metal finish.

And @Capt Caveman, I like the sensor placement on the back, but I think Samsung's placement is downright idiotic. It's right next to the camera. It's only marginally better on the Note 8. The way Google's been placing it makes perfect sense for me.

As for me, I like the panda XL a lot. And so does the missus. Especially if it does have that orange power button. We're both getting cases this time around, so that the minion doesn't destroy them, so the pattern will matter less.

This is only on Dave Ruddock's Twitter (an AP editor), but he claims the prices of the XL are still being discussed at Google. Apparently they were anticipating a higher price on the iPhone 8/8+. We'll see. I hope it does come back down (to matching iPhones, anyway), but the XL is still the phone I'm getting this year. For the length of time I keep a phone, down to my preferences, it will always be a Google phone, for better or worse.

What I honestly hope is that all the people moaning in the AP and DL articles actually follow through and don't purchase the Pixel XL. Give me a fighting chance, since we're both at work when these phones go live.

EDIT: post grump edit

well then i guess im buying a V30
V30 is a good option, it's a little less and if you need the headphone jack it's there. I hate any third party Android UI system so I can't have that option.

The only time I use headphones is at work and at the gym and the gym ones are Bluetooth anyway. I hope they include a dongle for the headphone jack because I'd hate to use wireless headphones at work and have them disconnect let everyone around me know what I'm listening too.
lopri should check links that are posted. Why bother re-hashing information? We're all already discussing that.

Let's hope google does this right this year and actually has stock. Unlike last year where you waited months for a pixel to become available yet even after that they were barely available. They are also the last to release so hopefully this design wasn't done in 9 months like the original pixels were.

I'm working from home that day and if they allow us to order on October 4th, I'm buying 2 XL's since roommate can't work from home and he needs a new phone too.

I did not see that the price and design rumor earlier in the thread, which is my fault. My bad I should have read more carefully.

Assuming it's another Verizon "exclusive", I'm hoping T-Mobile has a similar deal for Pixel 2 buyers like they did last time, that will make the price easier to deal with.

Same here. If it were some other company, it would be just another forgotten phone amid a sea of Android phones. What sucks most about it, is it's Google. The company behind Android, that should push every android advantage and set a clear course.

Instead, they release a feature-deballed, boring money grab like this. I can hardly believe anyone who cares about tech could allow themselves to support such obvious wanna-be Apple moves. The removed headphone jack- another ploy to sell some wireless headphone hoop dream. No removable storage- just so they can charge Apple-like prices for a piddly 64GB upgrade. (That's $18 worth of storage in the real world.) Nothing unique or innovative at all- that seems to be Samsung's job in the Android world.

I can understand Apple users clamoring for whatever the company puts out- there's no choice. But Android is all about choice. At $600 I'd question this thing- but at $850-$950? Seriously?
