Finally was able to order a White/Black 128Gb XL, says it will ship Nov. 20th so that color must be pushed out or it's just selling out faster than the black.

Yeah, that kills it for me as well.

The positives for me aren't something that I particularly want (vanilla android and twin front speakers) and the missing things I do really want (mainly wireless charging and headphone jack). Which is fine it's just not the phone for me there's plenty of others to choose. It's good that all the phones aren't the same feature wise.

If I remember correctly they sent out an additional email about the free VR headset with the original Pixel, so I'd think they'll do something similar with this.

Ah thanks I'll keep an eye out for it. I'm planning on getting the Google max speaker too but I forgot to preorder that in all my rushing to get my pixel orders in. So now I'm on that wait-list.

The price on this thing is obscene, more than a damn iPhone 8+. There's nothing else to get though. The only other thing marginally appealing is a V30 assuming I can root it but the Pixel's camera will shit all over that phone. My S6 is long in the tooth and I'm done with Samsung.

BTW the order page does say the panda one is out of stock. I'm betting they underestimated the demand on that one.

Absolutely, and there's tons of Android variety. It just saddens me it's the Android developer doing its level best to kill off Android's strenghts and advantages.

Just paint a GoogApple logo on it and call it the iDroid.

Converting digital to analog would require a dac. It's just for converting. It won't add any quality to the signal.

My initial reaction was thinking the panda style was ugly, but after thinking about it, it kinda looks like a storm trooper. But it was sold out by the time I ordered and I don't mind all black at all.

Today I preordered the Pixel 2 XL black 128gb out of spite and I ended up cancelling it about an hour ago. I've had the OG Pixel XL since January, I have zero problems with it, the camera is still good and battery life is great as stated before. I can't justify almost $700 to upgrade (with accidental protection and trade in) to a step up better camera, speed bump, no headphone jack and a tad bigger size. Maybe i'm getting old but its a lot of money to spend once a year for a little spec bump. I'm really digging the Essential/S8 sized phones since having all Plus/XL sized phones for the last couple years. If the Pixel 2 had the same screen to body ratio the XL 2 has, the upgrade for the lesser price would of been a little more justified in my case. The iPhone X size fits in my scenario of what I want but the price hike and going back to using iTunes..ugh. /endrant

None of those really answered the question. I'm assuming then it uses the internal DAC and outputs on the USB C analog audio pins.

The trade-in option could compel me to pull the trigger. Waterproofing and the spec bumps over my XL are interesting. The loss of headphone jack would be a bummer. The mini home would be interesting to play with.

I feel like I have time to decide. I was actually most impressed by the quick translation going on. If they keep pushing that forward, we could get to some Star Trek level stuff in that area.

And as for Google, they are becoming an increasingly pathetic bunch. They don't do anything remotely close to Apple's R&D and manufacturing but yet they think they are just as relevant as Apple in the phone market....Pffft.
