the product looks nice atleast in the picture on that site. 6 outlets is awesome too, and coverage is cool.

cant go wrong for 30bucks i paid 34.99 at compusa for my surge protector.

Kinda odd that it does not have (6) outlets built-in, rather it has (1) built-in outlet and they supply a (6) outlet surge protector.

What are you talking about??!
I've had one of these Blackout Buster's for about 1.5 years now.
It is the best UPS that I've come across. It HAS 6 outlets BUILT-IN.
4 of the outlets are WITH battery backup and 2 are WITHOUT battery backup.
They are not a separate strip - unless I'm misunderstanding what you are trying to say!
Most of the APC UPC's that I've dealt with have only 1 or 2 outlets built in - which blows!

These are great units and I've never had a problem with them.

They are especially great for $30. + tax!!

NOTE: When I got mine from CrapUSA, 1.5 years ago, I got it for $50. after $50 MIR.
The rebate took longer than most to recieve - approx. 3 months.

Seems like a nice unit. After 15 bucks in shipping and 5 in tax the deal kind of cooled off. Ordered it any way.

I've had one of these blackbusters for a while (more than a year). Got it for $50 during a similar promotion.

It's worked very well. It's survived 3 power outages. I never left the computer on for more than a few minutes during an outage, so I don't know how long it would last, but it lasted long enough for me to comfortably shutdown everything
(plugged into it: 19" monitor, 533-850cranked celeron w 260w power supply, 2 harddrives, 2 cd, 5 pci cards incl. 2 vid cards, 2 sound cards, 1 ata100 card, also a USB hub).

This may be a + or a -, but my (lowend) APS used to trigger alarms so often (for power fluctuations) that I switched the fluctuation alarm off. This one only triggers an alarm if it goes into full battery backup mode.

Yep, I got about 10 of the older Back-UPS with only 2 outlets and have to dedicate a power strip to each one . Good thing APC is beginning to move away from this form factor however. I have a Back-UPS Pro here that has 8 (4+4) outlets, and the newer Back-UPS Office has 6 or 8 as well.

Got one for me and the neighbor. The original version had the outlets built in at the back. The new (current?) model comes with a 6 outlet power strip with a 6 foot extension.

Are all 6 on UPS, or is it 4+2 or 3+3?

These are nice units, I got my first one 2 years ago and have bought 2 more since. Compusa usually runs them $50 after rebate. This is a Great Deal at $29 after rebate. Why would you buy an surge protector only??? for the same price.

After reading the "Warranty", there are an awful lot of hoops to jump through !!!

Register within 10 days of purchase!

must retain purchase receipt - required when making a claim!
unit must be directly connected to properly wired and grounded outlets. No extension cords, adapters, .....

guarantee - AC power disturbances - only electrical spikes, power line transients, electrial surges, brownouts and blackouts.

*NOT* damage from transients on the data line! (most likely cause???)
*NOT* damage caused by accidents or disasters such as fire, floods, or other acts of God - sounds like that means lightning, but doesn't explicitly say so.

I'll bet *almost* nobody *ever* collects on this $50,000 warranty !

Yeah, I tried to make a claim to Monster Cable when Klipsch v2-400's died after a lightning storm. No receipt, so I couldnt take advantage of $10,000 warranty. And out of Klipsch's 1 year warranty. But I got them rigged up somehow and they work again.

But if you get this or one of these, make sure you keep the receipt.

Does this unit have enough power to cover 400watt tower with 5 scsi internal drive?

It says 250W.

Don't know if it is actually limited to 250 or if, say, a 500W draw yields 1/2 (or less) up time.

I've had a "blackout buster" for 2 years. Live in Tampa Bay area "one of the worst lightning" locations in the world. Very pleased with performance.

I stand corrected!
Yes - mine from a year and a half ago has 6 outlets built-in.
But, my friend picked me up a new one today, and sure enough
he called me up and said there is only one outlet on the UPS
and it comes with a 6 outlet strip that you plug into the UPS.
I had no idea that they changed them and I wonder why?

Oh well, you were right!
Still a great deal though!!

New and improved, no doubt?

Also, Input listed as 120VAC 4.2A
Output listed as 120VAC 4.2A 250W 500VA

I'm sure 500VA isn't exactly what I think - "watts"

The packaging says "Up to 35 minutes back up*"

Since I haven't seen the rebate coupon posted, could someone who got this let me know if there is a limit of 1 on the rebate? Also, does the unit come with the serial cable for the shutdown notify?

Thanx!

Aargh. I got to our local CompUSA this afternoon -- they had ten and they all sold within the first hour of the store opening. Serves me right for taking my time.
