Placed my order q6600

Well I finally pushed the button and ordered my new setup. Here are the details:

From Mwave:
INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q6600 2.4
ABIT IP35-E
MSI RX1550-TD128EH Radeon X1550 (needed a cheap vid card)
ARCTIC SILVER 5 PREMIUM SILVER THERMAL COMPOUND

From provantage.com
4 x 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2-667 DIMM (about $10-15 after rebate!)

I decided to wait on the aftermarket CPU heatsink/fan. I want to see if the above will be stable at 3.0ghz with stock cooler. I can't wait to get the parts in and build!

Ummm ... you're probably going to be bummed that you didn't order an aftermarket heatsink+fan. Getting to 3.0 with the stock cooler is somewhat iffy, plus you're also going to have to remove the thermal pad from that stock cooler before you can use your AS5.

Seeing how the stock Intel coolers are such a pain in the butt to begin with (can be hard to install properly, can warp mobos, etc.), I'd HIGHLY recommend that you do it right the first time and use a different cooler. Besides, it will save you a lot of work in the long run.

Congrats on your purchase, I also bought myself a new CPU/Mobo. I went with a E6850 *all I do is game most of the time*, and a Gigabyte P35 board. First Intel since my old Pentium 166mmx. Overnighted it, and should have it today <3 newegg.

I was thinking about getting one of these when they go on sale, however I have heard they are huge and will not work on some motherboards because of the size. Any idea if this will be a problem with the IP35-e?

I'm running a modified Big Typhoon with IP35-E. Swapped out the stock 120 x 25 mm with a medium speed 120 x 38 mm Panaflo.
