Placing FOP 38 easier or Alpha 6035?

I have heard horror stories about cracking cores while placing the FOP 38. Is it all its cracked up to be? If so, How does the Alpha witht he NEW CLIP compare? Also any advice on TAKING OFF the FOP 38 properly? Thanks.

I actually installed my brand spanking new FOP38 last night, wasn't nearly as hard as some would suggest. All you have to do is secure the "fixed" side of the clip, place the HS squarely over the proc and push the other side of the clip down with a screw driver (within the actual finns to reduce the possiblity of slipage) and use your other hand (index finger) to guide the clip all the way down (also exerting some prussure.) Really not that bad.

Additionally, the noise is also way hyped up. That to is not that bad. Keep the grill off and no whine at all, just the whir. It sounds like you were just a foot over your box and your case fan was on. Damn good little fan if you ask me

Though my MSI K7T Pro2a is pissing me off...

What about taking it off? Any good tips on safely taking it off?

You might take the fan off when you do it. That way you can slip the screwdriver in between the fins when you press down on the clip to limit the chance of it slipping.

I did as Spoooon suggests. Take he fan off. Mine went right on easily.

Can anyone tell me which side to put on first for PAL6035? It took me like ten minutes to put it on and I tried both sides. LMK.

put the side without hinge first

then tru to push the hinge side and put on the clip on the socket

What about the FOP 38? What is this screw driver? Is that for taking it off or putting it on? Which?!?! I just hate the thought of a screw driver goign close to the motherboard in anyway....

To prevent cracking the core, is there a way to put some insulation in between the sink and proc while clipping?

The Alpha PAL6035 has to be the easiest hsf i have ever used. The new clip makes putting the hsf on, and taking it off, a lot quicker.
