My son and I are considering participating in a national AAU powerlifting meet coming up this July. I was reviewing the rules and it mentioned something that seemed odd to me called "Plaining" (I think that is how it is spelled, it was mentioned in a video).
Normally when we deadlift, we try to drag the bar up the thighs. I was told this is pretty normal for the deadlift. However, this seems to be grounds for disqualification on the DL and is apparently called "plaining". Has anyone here competed in a powerlifting meet? What advice do you have on doing the DL to prevent us from getting DQ'd for that?
