I too received an email on the 17th from dell about the DELAY. I replied as the directions indicated to continue with the order.

Today I went to the dell website and it stated that it was cancelled. So I called dell, and after 3 reps I talked with the sales dept. The lady said the that the monitor was no longer available. I said that the email sent to me said it was delayed, not discontiued. No simpathy from her. I asked if I could get the black one for the same price and all she said was the Mitsu 18" deal. I ststed that I didn't want the Mitsu, she said its the only substitute.

I'm I S.O.L.!?!?!

I got the Dell 19" FP1901 with free overnight shipping for $285.95 as my substitute. I checked the online status and the estimated ship date is Nov. 28

Yeah...I just tried getting an alternative monitor, and they told me the only option was the 18". They also helpfully told me they could connect me with a sales rep, and could cancel my existing order. When I asked how that would be any different than me just cancelling my order and buying a different model (without any discount), there was really no response.



I don't think threats of cancellation are going to be effective, since they seem to be going out of their way to get people to cancel.

Yeah, I've been on the phone with them for 30 minutes now trying to get something decent as a replacement. I do not expect it to be succesful.

Good luck to you guys though.

My order was cancelled as well. I called last Friday and today to complain, but got no where. I then asked the sales rep that I could get other monitor as a replacement for the trouble. With some pursuation and neogtitaion, they are offering me the Dell 1901FP for 25% off ( 5% more than what they offered on SB now), which comes to about $509.25. Is that a decent monitor & a good price? Should I take it?

I'm going to guess that Dell has a certain number of the Planar 17" monitors on order, because my order for 2 is still InProduction. So, my continued guess is that a certain number of orders are still going to be filled, but the rest had to be cancelled because that's as many as Dell is going to get.

That 19" replacement is sure sweet, though. I'm amazed that Dell offered you a 19" LCD for less than the cost of the item you ordered in the first place, though. Are we sure that's not a typo?

i just called dell (1800 624-9897 x80564), spoke to a mary and asked for a replacement monitor. she asked if i had anything in mind, gave her the part number for the 1901fp (19") and she offered it to me for $400. countered with $375 but she didnt budge - ended up ordering the 19" and she threw in free next day shipping for me.

I read the previous thread and saw GOSHARKS got the same one I did for only $400. Boy, what a steal! My question is that for $509, is that a decent deal for Dell 1901FP?

By the way, GOSHARKS, did you pay tax for that?

Is it legal for them to request from you a confirmation to continue the order? Sounds funny to me, kind of like - "...sorry but the $9,999 BMW we negotiated yesterday is delayed but we did not hear from you so we thought we'd cancel the contract..."

I always thought it takes two parties to make or nreak a contract...

When my planar was delayed, I told them I needed a replacement shipped sooner than the estimated 60 days that it was going to take. The CSR gave me the Viewsonic VX800, an 18-incher, for $310 with overnight shipping, and I still have my planar order. However, the lead time on the replacement is now 5-7 days acc. to Dell's website, and both orders are "InProduction". BTW, there's a 127-page thread over in deal discussion at FW forums, with varying experiences. I got my replacement order in last week, but the CSRs seem to have gotten some uniform instructions lately and are not budging much anymore.

I'm gonna call back and see if I can get my %10 off my Planar I got It but I cancelled my order and they still shipped it.

I just checked my order for 1 and it still shows as "in production". sorry to hear some of you have it canceled. I previously had the email asking what I wanted to do with it. I responded and told them i will wait. they emailed back and said ok.

nope, $400 flat. the order is still in the first step though.

Ordered nov 20 with Mary for $400 1901FP. flat too~ with free Overnight.

ordered back a while ago, still showed "In Production" Talked to some guy, I think he was in the Phillippines(I know it's wrong) He said he was going to try and expedite my order, gave me a ref. # and everything. Does this actually do anything, like push me to the top of the list, or will get here when it get's here, within 60 days?

Out of the blue, mine arrived today. No email notification. No charge (yet) on CC. Website shows shipped, but no tracking number or anything. Dell is whacked. Arguing with them now about that 16 port switch that had $50 rebate they claim doesn't exist.

No tracking info though, fingers crossed.

I bought this monitor from Dell last month when they had a 25% off sale and used a 10% off coupon. Never did get a tracking number. They shipped it by Airborne Express. Great picture, no dead pixels and love that Auto Adjustment feature.

Never got tracking number easier. I'm pretty sure that Dell is shipping these straight from the manufacturer, which is why, as they become available. I just hope they don't 'cheapen' it in some way to make it easier to fill the orders.

Dell tried to say they were out of stock when I ordered one of these a few months back. They tried to convince me to cancel my order.

I sent them a legal looking/stiff letter telling them that I had already been in direct contact with their supply warehouse and that I was informed that these were INDEED in stock and available to ship. To stop the BS, and that I wanted my monitor shipped NOW. I then received my monitor shipped to me via "FedEX" overnight. I received it the following day. You may want to try something similar.
