planning a trip to vegas.

so for Thanksgiving, i will be flying to vegas with my gf. we have never been there before. The plan is to fly wed, and come back on saturday night.

We are not heavy gamblers, but I imagine that since we are there, we might as well just play a bit. What else is there to do in vegas? We are not in to the bar scene. I'm looking more towards the touristy things. i.e, shows, see things unique to vegas, sight seeing, etc etc.

suggestions on places to go and hotels to stay at?

Well you never said how much you want to spend. You can spend a lot of money and stay on the strip or get one of the hotels in the old town area.

What is your budget, and will you have a rental car? Hoover Dam is kinda cool to see. Make sure you check out Fremont Street and spend some time walking up and down the Strip. If you'll have a rental car, "local" casinos like Green Valley Ranch (and the District attached area, which is where I live) and the M are places you should check out for sure. Not sure if they would be worth the cab ride though.

I went to Vegas with my Dad a couple weeks ago. We stayed at Treasure Island, which was a pretty decent hotel.

Some recommendations:
Any Cirque du Soleil show (we saw Mystere)
Steve Wyrick - Real Magic
Classic car show (at Imperial Palace)

Go to one of the Tickets 4 Tonight locations on the Strip when you get there and get tickets to selected same-day shows for 1/2 price.

Check out the free attractions on the Strip too (Sirens of TI, fountain at Bellagio, volcano at Mirage) and just spend a lot of time walking through all the hotels and taking pics. It takes at least a couple days to fully explore all the hotels on the Strip.

The auto collection at IP was nice for free . I just got back from my Vegas trip. Lots of different things to do, depending on your budget.

The wax museum was fun, the bodies exhibition sucked (overpriced for what you get), and there are of course plenty of shows to see.

My wife and I went a few years ago. We saw the show Le Reve, and we both enjoyed it. We stayed at the MGM grand and got a nice deal on a "hollywood suite". We went to a few buffets, including the famous Bellagio buffet. The Bellagio buffet is overrated; we thought the Spice buffet was much better.
